Nini's POV
As I leave Gina and head into the other room to call Jamie I notice an odd sense of calm that falls over me. I sit down on one of the benches attached to the tables and dial Jamies number into my phone. He answers relatively quickly. "Hello, this is Jamie Porter."
"Hey, Jamie... it's uh, it's Nini. Gina's friend." I introduce myself, my nerves flying back. "Oh yes. Hi. I just went through your music account. You are an incredibly talented singer. Gina told me you write all your own music?" I exhale a bit preparing myself to speak again.
"I do, yeah." A simple yet oddly impressive response. "Seems I've got a young Taylor Swift on the line," we both chuckled.
"That is the biggest compliment I've ever received, thank you," I pause for a moment, "But I promise I'm my own unique self."
"I don't doubt that at all," he chuckles again before getting serious. "I would love to meet with you sometime. Would you possibly be able to fly down to LA, let's see," Jamie pauses and I can hear him flipping through a book, "June 15th?"
"I would have to talk to my moms first of course, but I don't see any reason I couldn't."
"Amazing. I will email you the details. And don't worry about paying for a flight. I've got you covered since you seem to be such good friends with my little sister. She deserves good friends."
"Thank you so much. And she really does. Speaking of which, may I speak as a friend of hers for a second. Not as a potential artist," I ask. I heard EJ talking to Ashlyn about how Jamie basically told him that Gina thinks of him as a big brother. No wonder he canceled. That's an awkward conversation to have.
"Yeah, why not?"
"Gina likes EJ as more than a friend, not as a brother. Please pass that on to your guy's mom." I can hear his revelation through the phone.
"Oh no. I hope I didn't ruin things for her," he admits, clearly feeling guilty. "They'll figure it out," I explain honestly.
"Well, Nini, it was lovely to talk to you. Hope to see you on June 15th. I'll email you with more information. Just let me know if that works."
"I will. Thank you so much for the opportunity," we say goodbye again and finally hang up. Now super excited, I jump up and run out to talk to Gina. When I don't see her inside I ask Ashlyn where she is and Ash tells me she headed outside a few minutes ago.
When I leave slices I see EJ with his arms around Gina's waist and she looks like she's softly pulling away from his face.
Oh my god! They were kissing! "Gina!" I call out. She turns to face me, EJ continues holding her. It's honestly really cute. "Is everything cool? That was a quick call, did it go ok?" she asks moving closer to EJ's side. "It went amazing. He wants to meet me in LA on June 15th. He even offered to pay for my ticket. I just have to talk to my moms."
"Oh my god! That's amazing Nini! I'm so glad it went well," she parts from EJ to come to hug me. "I'm lost..." EJ inputs.
