More Than a First Kiss

Ricky's POV

I can't get what Lily said out of my head. She's really shown a different side to her this last week.  I walk past Gina as she runs outside, to go to another room. Hesitating just for a moment, I dial Lily's number into my phone. She answers unexpectedly quickly. "Hey Lily, it's me, Ricky," I nervously say into my phone. "Hey, Ricky, To what do I the pleasure of your call?" She says excitedly.

I laugh nervously, "You busy tonight?" I pause for another moment, "We could meet up at the park."

"That sounds awesome Ricky! See you in a half an hour?" I let out a sigh of relief and anxiety. "That works great, see you then!"

"See you then! Heart emoji!" She adds, before hanging up. I shut my phone off and move quickly to head out. When I get outside I notice Ej, Gina, and Nini all talking. Ej and Gina seem to be standing very close to one another. And Nini looks really happy about something. "Hey, everything alright?" EJ shouts out to me.

"Yeah, was just about to head home," I lie. They would never understand why I'd be meeting Lily. And I wouldn't want to hurt Nini anymore than I already have. "You need a ride?" EJ asks as I get closer to the three. "No, I'm good. I've got my skateboard," I hold the board up to show them.

"You sure? Your apartment is pretty far from here," EJ adds. I nod and begin to walk away from them. "Ricky!" I hear Nini call out. When I turn around I see her running up to me. "What are you really up to?" She inquires.

"Honestly Nini, or Nina, it's really none of your business," I snap at her before turning back around and leaving on my skateboard. I didn't intend that to come off as harsh as it did.

About fifteen minutes later I get to the park. Lily is already there, I see her sitting on one of the park's benches with a picnic basket. She is now wearing a red dress, not the blue one she had on earlier in the night.

I skate up to her and smile. "Hey," I awkwardly say as I sit down next to her.
