The hallways are empty, you can spot 1 to 2 people every 5 minutes but they're all heading home. It was a calm afternoon, orange hits the walls of the building and you just know that the air feels relaxing. You wanted to just drop on the floor and lay there.
Currently, you are on your way to your club room from the library, you're holding 3 thin textbooks to plan what activities you will do with your club. Opening the door, you spotted Nathan just sitting there with Aiko's PSP. You approached him only to see Aiko laying on the floor, a book on top of his head.
"Didn't I tell you guys to go home already?" you asked or whispered or shouted, you didn't know, you can't hear.
Nathan looked up and grinned, he mouthed "I'm still the president of this club though. Of course, I need to look out after my dear vice president."
That's right, he is the president, you decided to be vice because you can't communicate that easily to the club members. He was originally gonna join the crafting club but the girls were just too below his "godly" level. You offered him to join you and help you create a new club for science. But honestly, this is more like a "slackers that go to the beach, river or whatever type of body of water there is every week" club. Only you took the activities seriously, sometimes Nathan will join you but he mostly just gushed about hot men online. The others will help if you have something easy or exciting, but that only happens every 5 weeks. You're great full though because many people joined your club, the funds are pretty high.
"You're not gonna help, you'll probably just bother her and tell your lame story about that American guy you met on Twitter." Aiko got up and signed. You appreciate how he does this, patiently signing every time you're there so you'll understand everything.
Nathan dramatically slapped his hands on his mouth, saying something before standing up and walking away with closed eyes and a huge frown. Probably offended by what he heard.
"You made him all pouty again, dude." sitting down on a table, you readied your papers and the club's laptop to open Microsoft Word.
Aiko laughed and poked your shoulder so you could look at him, "I'll give him his iced coffee later. Can I help you with that though?"
"No it's fine, I can do it myself. You can go play your games now or go home."
"What do you mean??? I can be a huge help so I'm not leaving-"
"It's about making a wood transparent by soaking it in a vat of sodium chlorite, a type of bleach, then we will try and make it into a transparent container." You cut him off.
He looked at you, conflicted and confused, "Ah- I don't know anything about that chlorite chlorite thing. As you said, it's better to finish another level in Dragon Quest." you sighed as he stepped away.
'Now I can finally work on peace..'
"Y/N L/N please report to the teacher's office. If any student sees miss L/N please let her know the message." An announcement suddenly made you look up, it was loud enough to hear with your earpiece. Nathan immediately jumped to you and screamed about you possibly getting in trouble.
"I don't remember doing anything wrong besides punching a guy that tripped me earlier though..." you stood up and walked to the door, "I can't believe one punch will make him report me."
You arrived at the office and your adviser was there to greet you, she even hugged you as soon as she heard you. She was saying something but you can't understand it, properly because your hearing aids are falling off, so you pushed her away with a smile.
"Hello to you too Mrs. Hanako, how can I help you?" you nervously stuttered.
"OH!" letting go of you, she skipped to her desk to collect papers and called another teacher, you fixed your earpiece while they're at it, "We thought about it and we decided to let you participate in the upcoming Science contest! It's your chance, we were hesitant last year because you're disabled, but now we are sure that you can do it now as a second-year middle schooler! It doesn't matter if you can't hear, your brain is great!"
'Why is she so blunt? So damn insensitive'
You nodded, "Am I gonna pay for something. am I gonna undergo tutoring or reviewing?"
"Oh yes yes, we will give you tests every day after school that you must answer perfectly! No mistakes, you being insanely smart can make up to your deafness."
'Again, she's insensitive or maybe she just likes bullying her students'
"I'll study hard, Mrs. Hanako... you don't need to force yourself to sign Mr. Yagami, even I can't understand what you are trying to say." you smiled and took the papers they're offering you.
The next month, you studied carefully. Making sure to memorize everything. Your schedule changed too and you were busy with club and things. In the afternoons, you will finish the tests that will be given to you then visit Mr. Sato to study more. Next, you will go to the store to buy dinner to cook for your dad then you'll go home to eat dinner before you study until your bedtime.
It wasn't that hard but it sure is tiring. You just hope that your hard work will pay off and you'll get first place in the science contest.
