Zoe sat quietly with her friends on the grass. Mommy had said Cheiftan Taia was going to tell them a story. "It's an important story, so pay attention." Her mommy had said to her. Zoe uncrossed her legs.

A bright orange dragon flew to the front of the group of gathered children. Zoe studied the dragon in awe. The tips of her feathers were blue, and also her horns. Hidden in her orange scales were spots of yellow. Taia dismounted from her dragon.

"Paradise, say hi to the children." She pet the slender neck of her dragon.

The dragon squawked and slightly flapped her wings. Zoe waved back a hello to the dragon in excitement.

"Are you ready for a story?" Taia asked her audience.

Zoe nodded and many of the children replied with, "Yea!"

Chieftan Taia pulled up a chair from behind her. She sat and Paradise curled around her. The dragon rested its beak on her lap.

She pet the dragon's scales and spoke, "When the Great One created us, she meant for us to live in peace with each other. Soon though, she realized her intentions were not met. The Firetribe, now GrasslandTribe, were feisty people. The RiverTribe were proud of their powerful dragons. The DesertTribe was cunning and untrustworthy. The IceTribe thought of themselves as superior." Taia paused.

She looked to the sky for a moment then continued, "The NightTribe was quick to isolate themselves. if anything, upsetting the Great One more. Before their creator's eyes, they begun to fight. The war was long and bloodshed common. The Firetribe had managed to force the DayTribe into extinction. This broke the Great One's heart. She died, but not peacefully. As her two eyes looked their last, the earth shook violently. The world was disfigured. Our ancestors decided the war would stay at a standstill. A little too late, might I add. As the ForestTribe, we had hidden in the trees during the war, for our dragons were not well equipped for the battle. Now, we try our hardest to keep peace with the others."

The children sat quietly still comprehending the story. Zoe's mind was deep in thought. What if another war happens? Will we hide again?

Taia spoke softly after staring at the leaves sway in the wind, "Any questions?"

Zoe stood and walked quietly to Taia. Taia and Paradise watched her approach. Paradise looked at the young girl, ears flicking.

Zoe spoke quietly, "What if we couldn't hide and were apart of the war?"

Taia was stunned such a big question would come from such a young girl. She pondered for a moment then spoke, "We could have died, or be close to it. Maybe, we could've stopped the extinction of the DayTribe."

Paradise chirped softly and scooted closer to her owner. Zoe sat back down in the grass and nodded, contempt with her reply.

"What if another war broke out?" A older boy asked from the back of the audience.

Taia froze and looked the boy in the eyes, "I'm not sure," She paused," We shouldn't have to worry though, I highly doubt another war will break out soon."

Paradise squawked her agreement.
