"Oh it's you again, what do you want now?"

Ugh, looks like I'm getting his rude side again! I just want him to act like a normal, decent person, and I know that deep down he can be like that, because I'm too exhausted to deal with his attitude.

"I'm here to see my room and rest a little bit after a very intense day."

"Let me see that," Kayden snaps, grabbing my schedule out of my hand, "I've lived by myself since I got here, why'd they suddenly change that!"

"Look, that's what it says. I'm guessing the headmaster put me here for a reason or that was the only spot left, so can you just let me come in and settle in before you go try and have him change it?"

After staring at me for what feels like forever, he finally gives in and opens the door wide enough for me to squeeze in.

When I walk in, I'm blown away. It's not the typical dorm room that I was expecting, instead it's a room big enough for a prince, or princess since I'll be living here now too. It's an open space lighted by a grand, gold chandelier hanging from the center of the ceiling, lamps sitting on the bedside tables on either side of the king-sized bed, and a bay window on the right side of the room that's covered in papers and old books on things from spells to absorbing magic. Other things in the room are two wardrobes, a rolling full-length mirror, a seating area with a signature blue-velvet bench and armchairs next to a wooden vanity, with a vase full of flowers on top, attached to the most gorgeous gold mirror. It has its own bathroom too; unlike the other rooms I assume because there's a girl and boys' bathroom down the hall. (Dorm room inspired by the grand bedroom in the Belvoir Castle)

I'm assuming being the headmaster's son means getting the best room, but this is like two rooms combined and probably 10x nicer than the other rooms, I'm not complaining though, because if I have to share with Kayden, I deserve the best I can get.

I walk over to my bed and sitting on top is my school uniform and an un-labeled box. Inside is, as promised by the headmaster, my ID card, however, since this is the only bed in the room, I'm guessing this is Kayden's bed too.

"Yeah, I'm guessing the reality of this situation has finally kicked in," he says shutting the door. "They've assigned you to my room and that means we'll have to live in here together and worst of all sleep together. But why would they do that? There must be something you're not telling me."

I put on my ID badge and sit on the bed. "Well, I sort of just got here and the only thing I know is that I have more questions than you, so I'm definitely not keeping something from you. I would like to know what's going on though, especially since it sounds like something big involving me is going to happen."

"Okay, we're on the same page then. You stay here and do whatever you came in here to do I don't really care, and I'm going to figure out what the fuck is going on," Kayden says opening the door and leaving, I assume, to go talk to the headmaster.

. . . . . . . .

{Kayden's POV}

On my way to the headmaster's office, I stop when I hear Griffin talking on the phone out on the patio. He's sitting at one of the tables with his back turned to me but even though I can't see his face, I can tell that it holds a worried look.

I can't tell who he's talking to but what he's saying is very intriguing.

"She's officially enrolled, but she followed me to donation after and freaked out," Griffin says to someone on the other end of the phone.

I take a spelled rock from my pocket, use my tattoo to absorb magic from it, and recite, "Audite ut vocationem", a listening spell that keeps you hidden from any human or supernatural.
