Lauren shot up out of bed when she heard rustling outside her door. She listened closely and heard the sound of Y/n's footsteps. They were more distinct than anyone else's. The brunette woman got up and raced to get ready. Lauren was out of her bedroom in five minutes. When she did walk out, Y/n was already heading towards the stairs.
"Good morning," Lauren said as she walked up to Y/n. The brunette woman wrapped her arms around her. She leaned in and kissed Y/n. The younger woman tried so hard to fight her touch, but she couldn't help kissing Lauren back.
Lauren was very much overcompensating. She was terrified that Lynette's words had actually gotten to Y/n. The last thing Lauren needed was for Lynette to have changed Y/n's view on her. It took her nearly a whole year to gain this kind of trust from Y/n. She didn't need it damaged now.
"Good morning, gorgeous," Y/n said and smiled forcefully while taking Lauren's arms off of her. That alone made Lauren's eyebrows raise. The woman was already showing sign of distance with Lauren.
This wasn't a good sign.
Lauren bit her lip as she and Y/n made their way down to the kitchen. Lauren tried to link her arm with Y/n, but she'd pulled away each time. "What's going on with you? Are you feeling okay?"
"Yeah. I'm fine," Y/n said and walked away from Lauren. The two made their way into the dinning room. Louise came out and handed Y/n a to-go plate. Her eyes flicking back and forth between the two women.
"Where are you going?" Lauren asked and tilted her head slightly. Louise and her locked eyes. The kitchen worker gulped slightly before returning to the kitchen.
"To the States. I need to meet with some business there. I shouldn't be long. Maybe two or three days," Y/n said and clenched her jaw slightly. Lauren's eyes shifted to the floor as she nodded her head. "Louise and the rest of the girls can keep you company. Try not to miss me too much."
"Is Patrick and Liam going with you?" Lauren asked and took a step towards Y/n. The woman tensed as she did.
"No. This is um, personal business," Y/n said and smiled softly. She ran her hand over the side of Lauren's neck. Her eyes fell to the necklace that was secured tightly around her neck. "Walk with me to the door?"
"Of course," Lauren said and smiled softly. The two women didn't say anything as Y/n grabbed her plate and made their way to the door. Y/n's bag was already at the entrance. It was a simple black carry-on. Lauren grew increasingly nervous about what was in the bag. It could be clothes, money, guns, really anything.
Y/n looked at Lauren and set down everything. She grabbed one side of the woman's face. "I'll be home soon, okay?"
"Okay," Lauren said and nodded her head. Y/n scoffed softly before leaning her forehead right against Lauren's. Y/n had to physically restrain herself from snapping at Lauren. She didn't know the truth yet. She couldn't jump to conclusions. But the fact that she even had to doubt Lauren was killing her inside already. "I love you. Please be careful."
"I love you too," Y/n said sadly. The younger woman brought Lauren in. The brunette woman's hands held onto Y/n's arms as they kissed. Y/n was trying to kiss away this nightmare that she was living. She refused to believe the woman she fell in love with was a undercover agent. She'd never live with herself if that was the case.
