"Of course!" I smiled, wedging the phone between my ear and shoulder. Buttering toast and talking to relatives on the phone simultaneously was the ultimate multitask. Ask me the life and death question of which to continue doing? I'll take the toast, cheers.
"Great! We really need to go and see Rachel's parents in Brighton." Dean sighed from his end of the conversation.
"Yeah, I mean I should be studying that week but I'll just bring all my books with me." I took a crunching bite of my slightly overdone toast.
"Sure, that's great." He replied.
"I mean, I couldn't imagine better way to spend my Halloween break. House sitting!" I sarcastically cheered. I don't mind really, it's just fun to tease.
"Oh shut up Olivia." He chuckled.
"Listen, I'll talk to you on Tuesday then, I gotta go. Bye Dean." I chirped. He returned the goodbye, confirming that he would indeed see me on Tuesday. I didn't really have to go, I just want to eat my toast in piece. Goes to show the kind of twisted, manipulative, struggle to eat toast kind if world we live in.
Halloween already, this year's been crazy. Before I can count my blessings it'll be Christmas, then new year. And then the ever postponed 'new years resolutions'. New year, new me? Nah, new year new bullshit more like.
"Avery?" I called. Well, looks like my boyfriend's gone walkabouts.
"Yeah babe?" He called back, now to decipher where he is... My room, I think. I skipped upstairs in my white cotton pajamas, he stayed over last night so I had to wear something other than my usual attire.
"Nothing I was just wondering where you were." I shrugged, sat down and watched him attentively. He was laying on my bed with his phone in his hand. His back was pressed up against the headboard and legs out straight in front of him.
After a while of me gawking, he caught my eye.
"What?" He laughed breathlessly, well it was more an exhale of air than a laugh, I think it's super cute.
"I have to go and house sit for Dean and Rachel and Tuesday." I flopped on my stomach and kicked my legs up behind me. "Can you drive me?" I asked while manipulatively pouting and pulling puppy dog eyes.
"Mmm, depends what I get in return." He smirked as I crawled over to sit on his lap.
"You get..." I whispered into his ear slowly. "To have a road trip with me." I kissed his neck swiftly and jumped back off him, grinning to myself as his face fell.
"Tease." He frowned.
"Yup, that's me." I smiled, grabbed my clothes and went into the bathroom. I stepped into my black leggings and pulled a burnt orange, floral top over my head. My hair was still straight from when I practically ironed the life out of it last night.
When I walked back out, Avery was fully dressed and hoping on one leg trying to get his shoes on. I laughed at him and let him lean on me as he shoved a foot into a trainer.
He had to run as his dad needed him to help him with some work stuff. I was left alone but I had plans for today, I needed to go see Anne, I haven't been down to her in an age.
I grabbed my phone, leather jacket and walked out the door. It was a bright, crisp autumn morning. All the trees had begun to turn that kind of trio of colour, all the green leaves were now either a bright yellow, a deep orange or a maroon red colour. I loved autumn. Many of the leafage had fallen to the ground, making a crunch noise arise with every step I took.
"Good morning Miss Price!" Robin called from his garden, he was raking up the fallen leaves. Robin was the house in between the Styles' and ours. Robin Twist, he's a lovely man.
