The Family (marina)

chapter 2

*a few weeks after they have settled and moved into their new house*

"ah bambina, i'm so glad that we chose this house, it still feels like a dream to me" the brunette says while lounging on the couch admiring their home. "yes love, it's perfect. our children will grow up in this home and I can not wait for it all to happen." the blonde says as she joins her wife on the couch.

"so baby, I was thinking that we could start our ivf process soon, what do you think?" the brunette says. "mhm that sounds good, should we make an appointment with the doctor soon?" replied the blonde. "si! sounds like a plan. I'll give the doctor a call to schedule an appointment, yea?" the brunette asks. "sounds great babe!" replies the blonde.

Maya and Carina had decided that carina would carry the baby as she has less responsibility at the station and she didn't have to work as much as Maya did so it would be safer if Carina carried their baby. At first Maya wanted to carry the baby but with rationalization they decided against Maya since she was often running into fires. With that being said they had everything planned out and ready for when they decided it was time. Maya's childhood bestfriend Connor had offered to be the sperm donor for their baby and Carina and Maya couldn't be happier.

*a few days later*

They were talking to the doctor and got the process started. They got set up with the needles and the whole IVF thing. They talked about side effects and everything they needed to watch out for. Carina already knew everything since she was a OBGYN. "I'm so excited for this I can't wait" Carina explains as they are walking out of the doctors office. "Me neither" Maya says in excitement. Maya and Carina were both so excited for their new journey in life, they have always dreamed of being parents one day.

* they make it home *

Maya and Carina are cuddling on the couch together enjoying some pasta that Carina had made to celebrate their new journey. "Mmh this pasta is so good babe." The blonde says with enjoyment on her face. "ah now is it" carina says teasing Maya. They spent the rest of the night snuggling and watching a movie. They were just enjoying each other's company before they having to work their long shifts the next day.

It was 6:30am the next day and Carina's alarm was just going off. "Ughh" Carina says as she turns off her alarm starting to get out of bed. Carina goes to the bathroom to get ready for the day. Carina was washing her face and brushing her teeth as she her wife appeared behind her in the washroom. "Good morning bambina" Carina says as she is rinsing her face. "Good morning babe." Maya says with a smile on her face. "Did you sleep well my love?" Carina asks. "Yes, I slept really well" replied Maya as the brunette turned around to give the blonde a nice soft kiss on the lips. "I'll go make breakfast while u get ready, sound good?" The brunette says "sounds amazing" replied the blonde giving the brunette another kiss before she went to go make breakfast.

The two of them ate breakfast and then both headed off to work. Carina had to go to the hospital today since she worked at the hospital and then station. They bid their goodbyes in the driveway before heading their separate ways.

*at the station with Maya*

Maya walked into the station and did her usual catching up on paperwork, checking the equipment, etc. Later in the day they were called into a fire. "Come on team let's go!" The captain shouted. They arrived at the scene and put out the fire. The team made their way back to the station. "Good job today team!" Maya says. "Thanks capt" replied Andy. "Hey Andy can I speak with you in my office?" "Yea sure just give me a min I'll be right there" Andy replied a little confused.

"Hey what's up?" Asked Andy walking into Maya's office. "Hey I just wanted to ask you is it difficult having Luca around?" Asked the blonde. Luca was Andy and Robert's 2 year old baby boy. Maya was curious as to what life would be like having a little one around so she thought she would ask her best friend who already had a little child. "Um it definitely was difficult in the beginning for sure trying to figure out what would work like our schedules and stuff but he's literally the best thing that has happened" Andy says as she thinks about how much she is missing him right now while she's at work. "Why" Andy asks quickly after. "Nothing. I was just wondering since Carina and I are starting our family soon, I was just trying to think about what our future would be like." The blonde replied. "Awhh congratulations on the beginning of your little family" Andy says in excitement. "Aw don't worry about it Maya, you'll be a great mom and anyway if you ever need help or advice, I'm always here and can help you out." The brunette added. "Awh thank you." Maya said with a smile on her face.

It was the next day Maya and Carina both had 24 hour shifts so she they didn't get to see each other last night. Carina got home before Maya so she got showered and waited for Maya in their room. "Honey im home!" Maya shouts as she's walking in. She doesn't here carina so she walked upstairs to get to their room. "Babe?" Maya shouts. "Hey bambina I'm in our room" Carina shouts back. "Hey I missed you so much yesterday." Maya says grabbing Carina by her waist pulling her in for a kiss. "I missed you too" Carina said in Italian as she gave her love to Maya. Maya quickly noticed all the IVF stuff set out by their bed and got excited. "Oh babe I was I was wondering if you could help me with the first needle" Carina replied noticing the joy in Maya's face. " I would love too" Maya replied.

Maya helped Carina with her shot and they spent the night cuddling and giving love on each other. "I love you so much Carina, did you know that?" Maya says whole starring into Carina's eyes "yes bambina and I love you sooo much too" Carina says lifting her head from Maya's chest to give her a kiss. They laid there for a little while just holding each other before Carina fell asleep. Maya just sat there for a while admiring her wife who was soon to carry her child before joining her to sleep.
