After I snapped out of my daze, it was eerily quiet. I picked myself up and instead observed the people remaining. Most of the guards were still up on the wall, defending themselves. A few berry farmers and miners survived. Other than that, every single person was dead.
I wiped my eyes and ordered most of the guards to become a berry farmer, as I would need the extra food to recruit more members. Since we had less colonists now, not so many monsters would be attracted. This would allow for less guards to defend.
A few quiet nights passed then I could replenish some losses. I chose to recruit a new crafter as the slingers would require constant ammunition. I also recruited a couple bee and chicken farmers to make more arrows for the bowmen.
After another week or so, most of the losses had been replenished. Food was slowly being produced, and minerals were starting to come into the warehouse again.
At this moment, I made a vow to never let this happen again.
And what was the point of looking backwards? The past is the past and I could look forward now.
