Valentina's morning had flown by. Mateo had introduced her to everyone, even going door to door to introduce her to the senior journalists. Everyone seemed very nice, but Valentina wondered if they were being sincere, or more likely, trying to suck up to the boss's daughter.

Mateo guided her around the floor, pointing out the bathrooms, the break room, where he made a dramatic gesture towards the coffee machine. And finally, the printer and copier area, were apparently, she would be spending most of her summer.

Mateo then invited her to the briefing for the next publication of the paper, she listened carefully to each of the journalists as they discussed ideas and pitches for upcoming stories and Valentina had been impressed by her brother-in-law. Mateo could command a room, everyone looked to him for confirmation, smiling with relief when he agreed with their pitch. As she looked around the room, she could feel the love these people had for him, a few of the women were swooning as he spoke, and possibly a few of the men.

At lunchtime, Mateo invited Valentina to join him for lunch in Eva's office. Eva had ordered a platter of sandwiches and a few coffees from their favourite café, including Valentina's favourite, a large latte. Valentina was touched by the gesture; her sister was mostly overbearing but she knew she loved her, in her own way.

"Vale! How's your first day going?" Eva came to greet her.

"It's going well, I think," she looked to Mateo for confirmation as they sat on the comfortable sofas in front of a small coffee table.

"Yes! Of course," he turned to his wife, "I let her sit in on the meeting for the next issue of the paper. What did you think Vale?" he asked, turning to face Valentina as he lifted a sandwich.

"Other than them all being in love with you?" she smiled mischievously. "It was good, they all really value your opinion, I didn't know what to expect but wow, you're actually quite impressive big guy!" She playfully punched him in the arm before turning to Eva. "Did you know he has a long list of admirers down there?"

Mateo laughed while Eva rolled her eyes.

Valentina sat forward to whisper conspiratorially with her sister. "And not just the women!" she winked.

Mateo's face lost all its joy while Eva laughed this time. "Really?" she turned to face her husband. "I'll have to keep an eye on him then!" The sisters laughed as the uncomfortable man scratched his beard. "And what sort of jobs have they given you?" Eva asked, turning back to her sister.

"Well, so far I've made a few coffees, that machine needs to be replaced by the way!" Mateo smiled and Eva rolled her eyes as Valentina continued. "I was given a pass for the building and login for the computer, although I don't know when I'll actually be allowed to touch a computer! Jack? The big guy with blonde hair..." she looked to Mateo who smiled and nodded, "showed me how to use the copier and the shredder, so I assume I will have a lot of that in my future! And that's about it so far."

"Well at least you'll be busy. It would be worse if you were down there bored," Eva suggested.

"Oh, don't worry, she'll not get a chance to be bored!" Mateo confirmed. "She'll definitely get her steps up while working here, so sensible footwear is advisable Vale."

"No Louboutin's then?" she grinned.

"I'm glad it's going well Valentina. Dad will be pleased too, it's important to him that we all find our place in the company."

"Yes Eva, I know," she sighed. "Thanks for organising the sandwiches and the coffees, it was a nice touch." Eva smiled at her sister and they each lifted a sandwich to enjoy with their coffee.
