Juliana was on the early shift again, but she didn't mind. Tonight was Tex-Mex night! Lupe had promised to take care of the shopping and Juliana would help with the food preparation when she got home.

She was looking forward to seeing Valentina later. She felt guilty about voicing her insecurities over the price of their dinner but she also needed Valentina to understand why she was uncomfortable. The vast difference in their wealth had only become an issue when they'd gone to dinner, or more specifically, when Valentina had paid for it.

Although Valentina admitted she was nervous about their date, she had somehow managed to plan the perfect low-key date. They had quickly relaxed into each other's company, as usual, and simply enjoyed their time together. The art museums had been a surprise, but then again, Valentina was full of surprises!

Juliana couldn't say she'd been in many museums in her lifetime but she was raised to see the fun in the simple things. Growing up, her mother and grandparents had always managed to find ways to keep her entertained, usually without spending any money, so she appreciated 'free' activities and Mexico was full of great places to visit.

She knew Valentina had put a lot of effort into planning their date and she had loved the simplicity of it. Maybe others would've expected to be wined and dined in some fancy restaurant but Juliana had hoped Valentina knew her better than that. She wasn't interested in that kind of relationship.

And of course, Valentina had exceeded her expectations, planning their date based on a random conversation they'd had in the park.

The restaurant had been chosen on a whim; she had watched Valentina Google 'European restaurants' before settling on the beautiful Italian eatery nearby. So, why was she struggling so much with the price of dinner? That had been the only expense all evening, yet it had almost ruined their night. She didn't know why it continued to annoy her. Val hadn't seemed concerned.

"JULI!!"

Juliana jumped when Karla poked her side. The cup in her hand almost tumbled to the floor before Juliana snatched it out of the air.

"Jesus, Karla!" Juliana placed the cup on the counter as her hand came up to cover her chest, her heart hammering frantically below. "Are you trying to give me a heart attack?!"

"What is wrong with you? You've been all loved up for a week and now you have that tortured look again!"

"What?"

"Why are you all spacey again? Did something happen with... V?" She dramatically whispered the last part.

Juliana laughed, she missed spending time with Karla. "Everything is fine!"

"So, what's up with you?"

"Nothing."

The jingle of the door caught their attention. Both turning towards the noise as Javier appeared with a bright smile. He gave them a little wave as he approached the counter.

"Hello Juliana," his gaze moved to Karla, swiftly running over her body as he visibly checked her out. "Hi Karla."

Juliana watched wide eyed as Karla blushed.

"Hi Javi," she gave a shy smile before returning her attention to the coffee machine.

Juliana stood stunned as Javier made his way around the counter and into the office.

"What the hell was that?!"

Karla's blush deepened. "What?"

"Oh my God..." Juliana grabbed her arm and pulled her towards the toilets. "Did you two finally talk?" Karla grinned as she nodded. "Why didn't you tell me?"
