"You sure you want to do this Emmett?" Allie asked. We are in Kansas right now, we're at the prison my mom is at.

I decided to see my mom. To show her the person that I've become.

"Yeah Allie, I haven't seen her since I was seven, I want to show her the person I've I've become" I told her as we walked into the prison. As soon as we walked in, I couldn't tell if my stomach was churning or if the baby was moving.

Oh and by the way, we found a couple in their mid-thirties who are unable to have their own children to adopt the baby. The wife's name is Raychel, and the husband's name is George. We meet them when I'm eight months along to discuss the baby.

"Names" a guard asked.

"Emmett Baker and Allie Berry, were here to visit Taylor Parson (I forgot her mom's name)" I said.

"Relationship to the inmate" he asked.

"I'm her daughter, Allie is just here for emotional support" I told him.

"You're going to go through that metal detector, so take off any jewelry you're wearing" he said. I didn't need to take off any jewelry since, I don't have piercings, not even my ears. Allie on the other hand had nose rings, and big tunnels in her ears.
She took out her piercings and we both walked through the metal detector. They let us go. But before we followed the guard to the visitor's area, Allie put her tunnels and such back in.

We followed the guard.

We got to the visitor's area.

There was a woman sitting at a table, she looked like she was about in her mid to late thirties.

She had lifeless, shoulder length, light brown hair. She was scrawny like me, and had piercing hazel colored eyes.

Allie and I approached her and she looked at us really confused.

"Who are you girls?" My mom asked.

"Well, Taylor, I'm your daughter, Emmett and this is my best friend, Allie" I told her.

"Emmy? It's really you?" She asked.

"Yes mom" I said.

"You look just like your father, you're beautiful" she said.

"Thank you" I said.

"You're what nineteen now?" She asked. I nodded.

"I'm sorry for being such a horrible mother when you were a little kid, I'm sorry about the abuse, the neglect, murdering your father, I'm sorry for everything, I know what I've done is unforgivable and there is no way I can make up for it, but I'm sorry, I really am" she said.

"Apology accepted" I told her.

"I see there's a tiny human living inside of you" she said.

"Yeah, I'm six months along" I said.

"Is it a boy or a girl? When are you due? Where's its father?" She asked.

"The baby is a girl, I'm due in January, and her father doesn't want anything to do with her, and I'm giving her up for adoption, so it doesn't really matter to be honest" I told her.

"Figures, your grandparents had to force your dad to raise you, typical teenage boys" she said.

"Actually, her father is nine years older than me, he and I had a small thing going on between us early last year around Valentine's day and it stopped when I got put in the mental hospital. Then in like April, I was with a guy named Vinny and I did a vile thing and cheated on him with my daughter's father, her father told me that he loved me and we ended up having a one night stand and didn't talk for like four months, that was the day he told me that he's at a point in his life where he can't be a father but didn't agree with my decision to give little girl up for adoption" I told her.

"You're pregnant with a twenty-eight year old's child!?" She asked. I nodded.

"I thought your grandparents taught you better than that?" She asked.

"Granny and grampy sheltered me, they also passed away when I was fifteen, so I was never given the talk" I told her, technically I'm not lying about my grandparents passing away.

"Oh wow. How come you're giving up your daughter for adoption?" She asked.

"Because I'm not mature enough, and I can barely take care of myself, it wouldn't be fair on her if she had to live a horrible life because I made a stupid mistake and believed it when her father told me that he loved me" I said.

"Well, at least you're doing the right thing for your daughter, I wish I had done the right thing for you" she said.

"It's fine, mom, we're in the present and there's nothing you can do" I said.

"I wish the best of luck to you Emmy, I hope I get to see you or hear from you again" she said.

"Well, I'll try to call you as much as possible, I don't live in Kansas anymore, I live in Pennsylvania now" I told her.

"Why are you all the way out there?" She asked.

"Because my ex-boyfriend lives out there and so does my daughter's father" I said.

"How old was your ex-boyfriend?" She asked.

"He's twenty-two almost twenty-three" I told her.

"Visiting time is up!" The guard yelled.

"I'll try to visit you after she's born, I'll bring pictures of her" I said before getting up.

Allie and I got up and left.

"You think your mom is a better person?" Allie asked as we walked out to the parking lot.

"I think so, I'm glad she realizes that she's done wrong" I said.

"I think she's proud of who you've become" she said.

"I don't know why, I'm a ninth grade, high school drop out who's technically a pregnant teen" I said.

"I think she's proud because you've made it on your own, and you're doing what's best for your daughter" she said.

"True" I said.
