Petrified

Persephone had become very nervous once more. There had been another attack, the victim this time being Hermione Granger.

All suspicions on Potter had been moved back to Persephone and she was feeling horrible. So she once again made her way towards the astronomy tower. She was walking towards the tower, however when she heard a silky snake-like voice. "Mistress. I sense my mistress!"

Persephone made her way through the labyrinth like corridors of the castle to find the voice when she suddenly stood in front of Moaning Myrtle's Bathroom.

"What the-" Persephone looked around when she saw a pair of big yellow eyes. She gasped softly. They were the same pair of snake-like eyes that'd she'd been seeing in her dreams. She was sure now. It was a basilisk.

They must have been belonging to the beast. Just as she took another step a wave of dizziness hit her. Her legs gave away and she fell to the ground. Her head hit the ground with a thud and she groaned. Just before she blacked out, she heard the basilisk's soft hiss calling to her.

"Mistress."

Rosella sat in Charms that morning, worried when Persephone didn't turn up in the dorm or in the Great Hall, or anywhere else for the matter.

She looked at Draco who was snickering about something with Theo and Blaise.

"He looks really cute." she thought but then silently berated herself for even letting that thought into her head.

Suddenly, Professor McGonagall came into the class. "Professor, may I borrow Mr. Malfoy and Miss Potter?"

We followed her to the Hospital Wing. Had there been another attack? Someone  Draco and her both knew? Daphne, probably? But if that was true wouldn't Astoria have been there and Daphne was a pureblood.

Rosella's suspicions were proved wrong when she spotted black hair instead of blonde. Her mind went blank. Her pace speeded up as she went and sat beside the bed. Her best friend lay there, her dark-hair sprawled on the white pillow.

Her face was paler than usual, her eyes closed peacefully. Her face was as cold as ice.

"Why. . . why's she all still? I-is she petrified?" Rosella's accent thickened, her voice shaky.

"We assume so. We found her in front of the second-floor girls' lavatory."

Draco blinked. He'd never thought Persephone would be one to get attacked, her being the Slytherin heir and all. And now that she was, he couldn't believe it. More accurately, he wouldn't.

Rosella's vision had become blurry and she couldn't think straight. Her best friend, who was now her family, was harmed and all she wanted was revenge.

Tom Riddle stared at the peaceful girl curiously. Of course, he wasn't himself, he'd possessed Ginny Weasley and he saw things through Ginny's eyes.

Persephone Riddle intrigued him. His own daughter, yes, was being awfully stupid, he thought. The girl, figured out the secrets of the Chamber of Secrets, figured out the mystery of the basilisk but never thought to suspect the one other person who knew about it, the person she'd been writing to for a year and a half now.

But, he thought as he levitated her and walked to the girl's lavatory, he'd need her. After all, she was a descendant of the powerful Slytherin family and she'd obtained a few other powers obtained due to a boon on her mother's side.

And he knew just how to bring her to his side.
