NICHIRIN SWORDS CHANGE COLOR DEPENDING ON THEIR BEARER AND EACH COLOR HAS DISTINCT CHARACTERISTICS.
chapter three | a self-absorbed demon
Sitting down against the tree you've stood next to for the whole encounter, you simply watched as your fellow demon slayer laid the siblings next to each other in the snow.
Observing him, you came to the conclusion that you liked his mismatched haori. It suited him. His jet-black hair was pulled into a messy ponytail and he had white kyahan that his pants were stashed into. He was probably a good few centimeters taller than you.
Pulling out the blue haori that stayed hidden underneath your own, you made your way over to Nezuko and pulled it onto her figure.
"Why did you defend them?"
"Any older sibling would do anything to protect their younger sibling. You can call it intuition... but I think that these two may be different." You offered.
He rummaged through his pockets, appearing to be looking for something, but pulled out a small piece of bamboo.
You had an epiphany. "Uh," Talking to this guy intimidated you, "Do you mind if I use that?" With no response, he handed it to you.
Undoing the red cord that you kept wrapped around your wrist, you strung it through the bamboo and secured it around the young girl's head. A makeshift muzzle.
Standing and walking back to the tree you've claimed, you sat down again as the man moved to stand beside you, leaning on the tree. The both of you examined the two kids in front of you until he broke the silence.
"Your name... what is it?" He asked.
You cooperated. "(L/n) (Y/n)."
You could tell by his tone that he was incredibly anti-social. Worse than you. He kept on fidgeting with his sword, looking around, and trying to busy himself with anything else to do. His eyes were glued to the area in front of his feet, much like yours usually were.
"Thank you." You added after a period of silence.
He wasn't following. "For what?"
Looking up to him, you elaborated. "You gave him the push he needed. I think now, he's got the will and the spirit he needs to help his sister. So, thank you." He turned his head to you and nodded. "And I'm sorry."
He furrowed his eyebrows. "What are you apologizing for?"
"When you were yelling at him, trying to get him to come to his senses, I saw the look in your eyes. You've lost someone too." Standing up, you faced him. "I trust you'll take care of him... he's got the potential of a formidable demon slayer."
