TW // Swearing (Throughout the whole book, this is the only warning for it.)

Tubbo lifted his hand to protect his eyes from the harsh lights glowing above, nervously stepping forward.

He was in a long, white hallway, with countless metal doors lining the sides. He had been expecting a large, busy, noisy laboratory, but was greeted with an empty silence only broken by the occasional sound of footsteps in the distance.

Where was everyone? He had been ordered to find his new Mentor, who would show him around the lab, but how was he supposed to find anyone in this maze of confusing doors and rooms?

He didn't dare open the silver doors; he had been warned against it, and didn't want to get in trouble on his first day.

Luckily, there was no need.

Just ahead of him, a door swung open and a tall, tired-looking blonde man stepped out. Like everyone he had seen so far- including himself- he was wearing a long white coat, but this one seemed a bit more worn and was on the grey side, but what caught Tubbo's eye was the green and white bucket hat he was wearing.

"Um, excuse me?" Tubbo anxiously murmered. The man turned to him, a look of surprise and... amusement? on his face. "Hi, uh, I'm looking for..." the boy quickly checked his phone to find the name he was searching for. "Philza Minecraft?"

The man smiled. "You found him."

"O-oh!" Tubbo stammered. "Uh, hi, Mr. Minecraft..."

Fuck fuck fuck what am I doing-

"Just call me Phil or Philza, mate." Philza chuckled. He seemed nice. "So, I'm supposed to be giving you a tour, ain't I? Sorry I'm late."

The boy quickly followed the man down the hall, trying to memorise the many twists and turns. Philza seemed to know where he was going, but Tubbo wasn't surprised; from what he could tell, he had been here for a very long time.

"I think I'll show you some of the mobs first." Phil said. "After all, you'll be working with them a lot now."

Tubbo's eyes grew wide. He had been hoping to see the mobs, but didn't think he be allowed to so soon. Still, he wasn't going to protest.

Philza soon stopped at another silver door. It looked the same like all the others, except for a small, faded label near the handle that he was very sure said 'Mobs #1'.

"Some of the first mobs caught are kept here," Phil explained, resting his fingers on the handle.  "Back when we started catching and studying them."

He pushed open the door, revealing a slightly-darker-than-before hallway, but with wide, transparent doors lined with an old, rusted grey metal.

Pausing, they glanced around the room behind the first door. Tubbo didn't see anything at first, but noticed Phil staring at something on the floor.

It was a small, fluffy yellow cat-looking thing. Tubbo kind of wanted to reach out and pet it, but he didn't dare. Small, cute things were often dangerous. Like bees. Bees were cool.

"Oh, hi Philza."

Tubbo jumped as he heard a loud, robotic voice speaking to them. It took him a moment to realize the cat had spoken, especially since it had sounded like someone was right beside them. That was a loud little cat.

"Who's this?"

He froze as the cat's tiny face turned to him, it's whiskers twitching. It looked like it was laughing at him, as if he was being or about to be pranked and didn't reali-
