TW // Murder (In self defence lmao?), Blood.

No guns bc I dunno how to write.

Emily pushed from the undergrowth, grateful for the fresh air but starting to wish she were anywhere but in this freezing cold forest hunting an enderman. An enderman, of all creatures!

She glanced at Sapphire, who was standing next to her, glaring across the leaf-strewn forest floor. She was grateful to be with someone who could actually fight decently; rumour had it that this blue-haired girl even knew karate.

Paget and Ezzra were on her right, following Sapphire's gaze. They were the two best trackers in the entire facility, and Jade was a great trapper and knew practically everything there was to know about hybrids.

And what could she do?

She made things. Weapons. While Sapphire used them best, Emily was the one who made them.

There were some things that not even Sapphire could use skillfully, things that only Emily could. Smoke bombs, light bombs, and especially, potions. She knew how to time her throws perfectly to blind a hybrid with a harm potion, or weaken them with a slowness potion.

Emily knew that if you knew how to handle them, you could be more powerful then ten Sapphires. The thought made her excited.

"Emily!" She realised Sapphire was tapping her shoulder. "Focus. Look up!"

Emily glanced up and realised a few purplish-grey dusty things had appeared in the air, slowly floating down until they vanished.

"Ender particles." Jade confimered, glancing at the two trackers with a look of annoyance that she couldn't do it herself in her yellow-orange eyes.

Ezzra stared into the forest for a moment longer, before nudging Paget and murmering "There.", pointing to a clearing in the distance where a few particles had appeared. "It's close."

The group cautiously walked forward, trying not to step on any twigs or dead leaves or brush against a fern. Anything that would alert the enderman.

Ducking underneath a cobweb, Emily realised they had reached the edge of the clearing. The creature they had been tracking stood in the middle, its features hidden by shadows.

Emily and Sapphire began to step forward, but Paget blocked her way. "That's no enderman." She hissed, staring at the creature as a bit of moonlight revealled it. "That's a hybrid. We havn't seen an enderman hybrid in years!"

"Hybrid or not, it still has enderman features." Sapphire muttered. "Can't we just kill it or something already?"

"No, it could be dangerous, we shou-" Paget was interrupted by Jade. "Go ahead, just remember; if it teleports, we stick together, back to back, so that it can't sneak up on us."

Sapphire gave her a brisk nod and burst into the clearing, closely followed by Emily and the rest of the group.

The hybrid whipped around, staring at them with one neon green eye and one bright red. Its face was neatly split, half black and half white. It was the moss terrifying thing she had ever seen.

Sapphire instantly flew at it, brandishing a sword and shouting a battle cry. She was pretty dramatic for a scientist.

She attempted to slice the creature's throat, but it darted away at the last second with mingled shock and anger in its weird eyes.

"Everyone together!" Jade began shouting instructions as the hybrid started teleporting around the clearing in fear. "Force it to teleport. Tire it out!"

The five came together in a tight circle, their backs brushing as their eyes darted around the clearing, trying to find out where it would go next.

The creature suddenly emerged from the undergrowth and paced towards Ezzra.

Which a fierce glint in their eyes, they clenched their knuckle dusters, looking helpless. Jade took a step forward to help them, but Emily blocked her path, realising they were doing it on purpose to get the hybrid's attention.

"Don't worry, they know what their doing." She hissed.

"They better." Jade muttered, still looking concerned.

Emily tore her gaze from Jade as she realised the hybrid was advancing on Ezzra. They swung their fist up, hitting the creature on its chin, and slammed it down again, her dagger in the same hand, managing to make a cut on its pale skin, all in one quick movement.

The enderman swung around furiously, dark purple-ish blood beginning to drip from the cut on its face, and lunged at Paget, pulling out a sword of its own. She shrieked as it dove towards her, plunging the sword into her stomach.
"No!" Ezzra and Emily screamed at the same time, falling on their knees at Paget's side and trying to stop the blood flowing from her wound.

Ezzra suddenly leaped up and turned to the hybrid, who began teleporting away as soon as it met their glare. They cursed under their breath and chased after it, ignoring Jade's call. "Ezzra, leave it! We have to take Paget back before she-"

"It's too late." Jade and Emily turned to Sapphire, who had spoken, her blue hair hanging infront of her face. "She's dead."

"She can't be dead!" Emily cried. "We have to take her back, we can help her! We can still save her!"

"We will take her back." Sapphire said. "But it's no use trying to save her."

Jade looked up. "We can't go back without Ezzra!"

Sapphire took a step forward, staring into the forest, but the eery silence before the fight had returned. Ezzra was nowhere to be seen. "They're gone." She decided after a moment. "They'll have to find their way back on their own."

"Sapphire, we have to-" Emily began.

"Do you want us to risk leaving Paget's body here to search for Ezzra?" Sapphire practically shouted, then calmed herself down and faced Emily and Jade sadly. "Ezzra knows how to survive. They'll be fine, okay? Right now, we have to focus on getting back."

Ranboo sprinted as fast as he could to escape the tracker behind him. He was too exhausted to teleport, so he had to manage to loose them in the forest.

Luckily, he had lived in this forest for years; ever since he escaped from the facility. He knew it better than anyone.

Hearing the angry tracker's footsteps behind him, he swerved left, leaping over brambles, then leaped onto the low-hanging branch of an oak tree and scrambled up silently.

He saw them continuing to run beneath him, expecting that he was still ahead. And they called themself a tracker?

He counted to sixty before jumping down the branch, knowing that the tracker was long gone.

While he hated almost dying again, he was grateful he had come across that group of scientists.

The facility wasn't far away. He could still go back. He could still save everyone.

What would he tell Philza, though? His old mentor hadn't known he was a hybrid. What if he got captured?

He shook his head. Phil wouldn't betray me. I trust him, and he trusts me.

This took me 2 hours. Is that a lot, or barely anything? I have no idea.
