I woke up in an unfamiliar room the next morning and it didn't take me too long to piece together I was lying naked under the covers of Romeo's bed. I tried to contain the smirk forming by biting my lip but it wasn't working. Until I saw that the space where Romeo was supposed to have been sleeping next to me was empty and I frowned.
"I'll be over in an hour – No – No – OK, see you then."
The door of his room wasn't completely shut so I could hear him speak on the phone outside the door.
Where'd he have to be in an hour?
I knew where I had to be in an hour: home. So, I threw the covers off me and slid on my panties followed by my dress from last night.
Last night, huh?
I still couldn't contain the grin.
Stepping out of the room, I saw Romeo emerged on his phone sat on a chair in the kitchen wearing only a pair of grey sweats.
"Buenos días."
[Good morning]That got his attention as he looked up at me with a smile as his eyes travelled down my body.
"Buenas tardes," he corrected making me check the clock on his kitchen wall.
[Good afternoon]"Shit, already? I gotta get going," I moaned, picking up my phone from the coffee table. The glasses and wine bottle weren't there anymore.
"I'll drive you," he offered getting out of his seat.
"No, it's OK. I heard from the bedroom that you have to be somewhere in an hour and it takes some time to drive me home and back so I can just take the bus."
"No, I brought you over to my place so I'll take you home. No ifs or buts. Go put on your shoes while I find a shirt."
Demanding.
I strapped on my shoes and waited for him to come back fully clothed by the door. Surprisingly, last night's events seemed to not have crinkled our relationship because the atmosphere wasn't weird around us. Yet, the car ride was silent apart from the music coming through the sound system and him turning the volume up when he rolled the windows down.
He looked cool and relaxed as he bopped his head while driving with one elbow on the window and the other hand on the steering wheel. He dropped me off and flashed me a smile before turning back around and going his own way.
As soon as I opened the door to my apartment I saw Layla sprawled out on the couch still snoring away as if it wasn't almost two in the afternoon. It all indicated she'd probably been out until the early hours of the morning and wouldn't even notice I wasn't home so I wouldn't even need to send that message. Regardless, I went to pick a blanket from the closet in my room and put it over her tucking her in and switching off the phone in her hand while I went to make something to eat.
By the time I was serving the food onto a plate, I sensed her stirring around and waking up shortly after so I got another plate to serve her. Even if she wasn't hungry she would always eat the food that I made regardless of what it was.
After, I told her I could wash the dishes and she could shower because she smelt of alcohol, sweat and cigarettes mixed together and that was not a pleasant smell. I had to get to work as well so as soon as she was done I hopped in the shower and hopped back out just as quickly so I could catch the bus coming in ten minutes down the street.
Thankfully, I made it on time and was three minutes early to my shift which I used to get changed into the black uniform.
Romeo wasn't at the bar when I walked out. It was the same girl from last time. This time, however, her hair was dyed a dark green and, in my opinion, it suited her extremely well.
