"You know," Luz glanced up at Amity. It was officially their one-week anniversary—a week since the Tunnel of Love incident, a week since the confession, and a week since Luz got new information from the echo mouse. And how do you celebrate a week-long relationship? Why, watching cat videos, of course! Although Luz didn't have any Wi-Fi in the Boiling Isles, she sure did have a lot of cat videos saved on her phone, so it wasn't that big of a deal. "Now that we're, um, dating..." God, it was still unbelievable to say that. She tried to fight back a huge grin, instead resorting to happily shaking her hands. "We gotta come up with nicknames for each other, right? That's what people do, I think."
Amity looked up from the phone (which she was still very fascinated with. Who knew human technology was actually quite interesting?), a blush spreading across her cheeks, "Huh? Nicknames?" This human would be the death of her.
"I mean, if you want to, of course! I just...I 'unno, thought it was cute."
"Yes! Definitely! I, uh, I'm not sure what to do though," she fiddled with her hands. "...sweetie?"
Luz fought back a laugh, but failed and burst into a fit of giggles.
"Ah, I'm so sorry, I'm dumb, I just didn't know-"
"No! It's- it's really cute Amity," Luz sighed, getting lost in the beautiful image of her girlfriend, who was currently a huge mess of feelings—found it adorable and endearing when Amity turned red. She hummed to herself, thinking of any word that captured Amity's essence. Before long, she mumbled out a simple "Gatita."
"What was that?"
Luz shrugged, "I couldn't think of anything cool but...gatita. It means kitty! Uh, maybe it's just because we're watching stuff about cats, or maybe because your palisman is a cat, but like. Yeah, gatita."
"That's..." Adorable. Amazing. Everything she dreamed it would be. "...wow."
"You don't like it."
"No! I didn't say that! I love it. It's cool."
"Are you sure?"
Amity nodded, a bit too enthusiastically. She just wanted to be called a cute name by her girlfriend, for Titan's sake!

Luz sleepily leaned against Amity's side, "Luz means light in Spanish."
"It does?"
She nodded, yawning in the process, "That time, at your parents' presentation thingy? When you saved me. I just thought that was really...yeah. Awesome. Cool." Before she could succumb to her tiredness, she lazily reached for a pencil, carefully drawing a familiar glyph on a piece of scrap paper. With a simple tap of a finger, the paper transformed into a tiny ball of light. A light glyph, the first spell Luz learned.
Amity looked down at her, a soft smile on her face. "Well then, my Luz, could you teach me how to do that glyph some time? I think it's great."
She could simply melt right then and there (and it was a shock that she wasn't dead from how fast her heart was beating). It took all her energy to pull herself up and look Amity in the eyes once more, "Really?"
With a slow nod, Amity was immediately engulfed in a bear hug, being tackled to the ground not-so-gracefully. "Ay, gatita, you're-" she squealed, resisting the urge to jump up and dance by simply kicking her legs in the air.
These two were helpless. Helplessly in love.
