TW! There is a gore scene in this chapter. Do not read if you can't handle it.

As usual, waking up was a complete drag. The previous night had been rough, with a large number of villains running loose due to an interception of a delivery of villains from a local jail to a higher maintenance jail cell.

~Flashback~

The truck was filled with dangerous criminals, ones capable of assassinating, torturing and cold blooded killing. There were about 14 of them, far too much for my liking to be in the same truck. The interception was carried out at the midpoint of the journey.

Whoever had planned this out clearly did their homework. The road at the midpoint of the journey was a silent stretch of road that was surrounded by trees and little civilization. It was the perfect place to cause a ruckus and not get caught, not to mention it would take any hero or police a while to even reach there, so, the plan was clearly well thought out. Based on the condition of the truck, there was no harm done. The truck was in the same state it was when it had left. The cause of the interception probably came either from inside the back, where all the criminals were kept, or it was the drivers themselves. The drivers, were found to be missing, so it was a huge possibility. Too many possibilities, too little evidence.

The crook in charge is a very cautious person, seeing as the was absolutely no evidence left at the site. Impressive work, if I do say so myself. After thorough investigation, I set out to find the escapees, all while gathering the small bits of evidence I knew and storing them in my head to record and think about later on. Man, the detectives there will never find anything, their too useless and untrained. There's no doubt that this will turn into a cold case.

I then focused on the task at hand, tracking and searching for the dangerous villains. Eventually, I had managed to round them up after a huge struggle because they were strong, I admit. Yes, I do struggle, I am still human. Sadly. I tied them up and realized something wrong. In the report that I may or may not have hacked, it said there was 14 criminals being transported, but as of now, I've only rounded up 13. Shit, did I make such a careless mistake as to miss one while searching for the villains? I turned quickly and ran into the vast spread of trees, hoping to find the last one.

Honestly, I don't even know if it was worth it. I sought for a dangerous woman, but all I found  was just a sad-looking corpse laying on the ground surrounded by blood. The body was facing downwards, but her face could be seen. Apparently, the person seems to like eyeballs, since her sockets were completely empty. Fascinating. After checking her body, I discovered something awfully weird. Her stomach was slit open with her intestine hanging out. Nothing weird there, but what piqued my interest was the fact that her heart was missing. If this murderer had taken her heart, it was surely done carefully. The arteries and veins connected to the heart didn't seemed like they were ripped out, they looked like they were carefully cut.

Now comes the question of the day, why would they need a heart? This process was definitely done by someone who knew their human anatomy, so they must have known the proper procedures to transport the heart properly. They would have put the heart in a package, along with a sample of the woman's blood, in a plastic cooler filled with ice. Now, this process is like a race, in a normal heart transplant scenario, they would have to hurry off to get the heart to the receiver of the heart, but that's the thing. This isn't a transplant, so what could they do to make sure the heart wouldn't stop beating? Placing it in the cooler for too long would cause it to freeze and die, but leaving it out would definitely cause it to stop beating. Of course, there was the quirk alternative, where they use their quirks to ensure the survival of the heart. That would be difficult to deal with. This was a puzzling case, and not to mention, the way this murder had ended, the killer must have some art obsession because this dead body was left mutilated in an artistic way. Looking at the corpse, I could see the art in it, as twisted as it may seem. It didn't seem to look like a normal stab-and-run scene, it was a well done murder.
