"So girls, today we're going to be playing soccer. Stay with the group you're usually in, because that's your team." A teacher shouted toward the crowd of girls. Deena and Sam were disappointed that they'd be split up. It seemed childish to them, that they never wanted to be apart. But deep down they both knew why that was.

"This is a FRIENDLY  game." The teacher emphasised.

For five minutes or so, everyone helped set up the field and got into positions. A loud whistle was blown and the game had begun. About 15 minutes into the game, Sam and Deena had an encounter. Sam was running with the ball towards the goal. She was surprisingly competitive. Deena had seen she was about to score a goal, so she sprinted towards her, extending her leg and tripping Sam over. Sam's left leg somehow wrapped itself around Deena's thigh and took both of them down...on top of each other. At first Sam felt annoyed as she was so close to scoring a goal for her team. But then her trail of thought had completely disappeared as she realised Deena Johnson was leaning over her, centimetres from her face.

Sam was breathing heavily, too heavily, and it wasn't from the exercise. It was only now that she'd been able to admire Deena's face at such close proximity. There was sweat on her upper lip and around her forehead that glistened in the light, her eyes were the deepest hazel, cute dimples emerged on her cheeks as she gave Sam a soft smile. She spent a few more milliseconds just gazing up at her. A few more with her eyes fixed on her lips.

Deena appeared to be doing the same thing.

The concentration and quiet was broken. "Ok girls, get up." The teacher marched towards them.

Sam tried to wiggle from beneath Deena as fast as possible as she realised everyone was staring at them with a judgemental look in their eyes. They must have been on the floor for longer than they thought. As they both jumped up Deena had also noticed the looks they were receiving. Even the teacher seemed a bit awkward.

"Shall we resume?" Proposed the teacher, trying to settle everyone. Sam had grown more and more uncomfortable with the situation and it had led to her running off of the field. Everyone was quiet, watching the drama unfold.

"Sam!" Deena shouted after her. Sam didn't stop, and made her way back to the changing rooms. The teacher put her hand on her forehead as Deena looked at her with plead.

"Go on." The teacher sighed, hinting she could go and console Sam. Deena quickly ran after her. She swung the changing room door open and found a half-dressed Sam manically shoving her sports clothes back into her bag. She paused when Deena entered the room, looked at her and then continued.

"Please leave me alone." Sam spoke with harshness in her voice.

Deena looked at the floor as she dressed herself. "What did I do wrong?" Asked Deena, her voice cracking.

Sam zipped up her bag and put it over her shoulder. She stood for a second, looking at Deena's glazed eyes truthfully. "I can't do this." Sam confessed gently.

"Do what?" Deena asked, even though she knew what she meant.

"You know what!" Sam hissed. She could be hurtful when she wanted to be.

Deena blinked slowly and sat down.

Sam realised how poisonous she sounded. "I'm sorry." Sam apologized, sat down next to Deena and dropped her rucksack back on the floor. "I just can't do this." Sam said again. Deena didn't reply, only looked at Sam and nodded with a smile. "I said I can't do this!" Sam urged and spoke louder, as though she was trying to convince herself. Deena still didn't say anything. Sam stood up. Deena stood up. The tension peeked.

Sam quite possibly took the loudest gulp ever gulped and gently (ish) pushed Deena into the wall opposite them.  They were both breathing deeply, both staring at each other with lust, their faces centimetres apart again. Their chests created friction as they inhaled and exhaled.
"Sam, it's oka-" Deena was cut off. Their lips collided. Their eyes shut instinctively and tingles ran through their bodies making them shiver. Deena lifted her hands up and placed them on either sides of Sam's jaw and Sam pressed their bodies closer together.
They pulled away for breath. It was only a short kiss, but so many feelings were released.
As they pulled away, Sam stuttered. Deena didn't know what she was about to do.

Of course, Sam darted. She once again threw her bag over her shoulder and bolted out the door.
Deena felt as though she couldn't move. She could barely stand. She didn't know whether to follow Sam, give her time or to bolt herself. For now, all she could do was reach her fingers up to her lips and grin.
