"Deena that went in my eye!" Sam laughed.
Deena was rolling around on her back in hysterics, sand getting everywhere.
"No Deena help me, seriously help me." Sam continued to laugh despite being in pain.
Deena rolled over onto her stomach and positioned herself. She held Sam's face in the palms of her hands as she tried to remove the sand.
"Ok hold still." Deena said to Sam as she gently blew into her eye.
Sam began to blink frantically.
"Gone?" Deena asked, care in her voice.
"Gone." Sam concluded. "Thank you." She whispered in an intentionally cute voice.
Deena's heart melted. She was still holding Sam's face and they sat like that for a few more seconds.
Out of nowhere, Sam leant forward and kissed Deena softly on her neck.
Deena's eyes rolled back and she let out a very quiet moan. She then fell back onto the sand with a laugh.
"Ha. Sucker. " Sam giggled, pointing at her. Smug again.
"OH. Is that right?" Deena questioned sarcastically with a chuckle. She jumped on top of Sam and began tickling her all over.
Their laughs were beautifully infections and people on the beach looked over at them with a smile.
"You owe me ten bucks." Murmured a familiar voice.
They both jumped up from off of the floor.
It was Kate and Simon.
"Dude no. I'm not giving you ten bucks. I knew it too." Kate replied to Simon.
"Well that's not what you said at fir-" Simon was cut off by Deena.
"Um excuse me? We are literally right here." She pointed at the ground.
Sam looked less embarrassed after being caught this time around, and she awkwardly giggled "Hey guys."
Kate and Simon gave them both a cheeky smile.
"Can we join?" Kate asked.
"Why are you guys even here?" Deena questioned.
They both shrugged their shoulders.
"We like adventures?" Simon answered with a laugh, it seemed like the most feasible thing he could manage.
"Just seems like an interesting coincidence." Deena squinted her eyes at them.
"Oh stop being so paranoid, princess." Kate insisted, sitting down.
Simon joined them.
"Yeah it's definitely not like we followed you or anything." He blurted.
Sam nudged him playfully with her elbow. It was the first time they'd properly had a joke together.
The sun began to set.

"Hey, we should probably get going soon." Deena spoke, admiring Sam's face that was lit up from the orange haze of dusk.

"I think we should probably go for a swim first." Sam suggested with her arms held out, looking adorable.

Deena leant back onto her elbows, insinuating she didn't want to. Suddenly she jumped up and started removing her clothing.
Sam looked up at her with excitement, she also tried not to look too hard.
"Race ya." Deena yelled playfully as she started running down the beach.
"Shit!" Sam laughed as she stood up and undressed herself with haste.
Soon enough, after a bit of hesitance, they were both in the water.
Simon and Kate watched from a distance.
"They're kinda cute." Simon said, a wide smile on his face.
"Too right." Kate agreed and ruffled his hair.

"This is amazing." Sam uttered breathlessly trying not to get sea water in her mouth.
Deena looked at her and smiled.
"What?" Sam asked with a grin.
"Nothing." Deena continued to smile.
"What!?" Sam laughed with persistence while splashing a huge wave over Deena.
She gasped and grabbed Sam, carrying her in her arms, pretending she was about to throw her into the ocean.
"How long can you hold your breath?" Deena asked.
"Longer than you." Sam replied with confidence.
"Is that so?" Deena held Sams hands under the water as she counted down from 3.
The pair dunked themselves under, air bubbles rose up. They opened their eyes and it seemed they both had the same idea in mind.
Eye contact suddenly locked, and the space between them grew shorter until there was none.
Sam wrapped her legs around Deena's waist under the water as they kissed.
There was something about the intimacy, something about their bare stomachs touching, it sent electricity down them when their bodies brushed.
It was brief, but beautiful. When they came up for air they just held each other, laughing.

"Are you jealous?" Deena asked as they came back up to Kate and Simon at the top of the beach. Deena was on Sams back.
"Of the swimming or the cuteness?" Simon chimed.
Deena was about to come up with a witty and sarcastic comment but she could only hold a smile and bury her head into Sam's neck.
Sam would usually be more defensive, but she felt truly free. There was no judgement, from anyone.
She was becoming more accepting, at least around Kate and Simon.

Shortly after, they all made their way back to the cars.
"Bye guys!" The girls have a final wave to Kate and Simon and they drove off.

Deena noticed Sam was shivering. She rubbed her hands up and down both of Sam's arms in an attempt to create some friction and heat.

Then Deena realised she had a spare jumper in her trunk.
"Here." Deena handed Sam the fabric under the moonlight. It was black with colourful patterns. (If ykyk;)
"Thank you. I love it. I might have to...you know." Sam paused. Deena giggled.
"Steal it?" Deena finished off her sentence.
"You know me too well." Sam confessed.
"It's looking that way." Deena attempted a wink.
They both laughed at how much it failed.
"Come on, you." Deena gushed.
They drove back, listening to their favourite songs. A hand would sometimes be on a thigh, other times it would be interlaced into another hand.
A night to remember.
