Akaashi took small sips from his warm cup of tea, enjoying the silence of the early morning. Akaashi Keiji lived alone on the bottom floor of a bunch of apartments. His only company being the black and white cat that would visit his home occasionally, then leave once they'd had their fair share of affection and treats. It was a quiet life, and though it did get a bit lonely sometimes, that wasn't to say he didn't enjoy it.
Akaashi's phone buzzed with a notification, and Akaashi picked it up to check what it was from. Assuming it would be another spam email or something, but it surprisingly was a message from Instagram.Owl_guy_4 commented on your post.
This spiked Akaashi's interest a little bit, he did get a fair share of likes on Instagram (though his follower count was measly, and his following count was even less) since he volunteered at an owl sanctuary and would often post photos of the owls, but it was rare someone would comment on one of the photos.
He unlocked his phone and checked the comment.Owl_guy_4: OMSGDKSD THEY'RE SO CUTEEEE
Akaashi felt a smile curve onto his lips as he liked the comment. He then noticed the so-called owl guy had liked his other two most recent posts (both featuring owls) and had started following him.
Akaashi turned off his phone and finished his tea.A couple of days later Akaashi sat in the backroom (also the break room) of the owl sanctuary he volunteered at, scrolling through his phone aimlessly before he got a message from the owl guy.
He opened the message eagerly and found it was a response to the short video he had put on his story earlier. The video was of the new owls that had come to the sanctuary, three baby owls and one mother owl, all of the Japanese scops owl breed. Akaashi had captioned the video with "rescued these four today". The four owls had been rescued from a burning forest, some camper's fire had gone rogue and caused havoc for the wildlife surrounding it. Akaashi chewed on his lip at the thought.
He reverted his attention to the message.Owl_guy_4: WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM!!?!?!?
Akaashikeiji95: They had to be rescued from their burning habitat because someone's campfire had gotten out of control.
Owl_guy_4: OH NO THATS SO SAD :(
Owl_guy_4: THERE SUPER CUTE THOAkaashikeiji95: They're*
Akaashikeiji95: And I agree.Owl_guy_4: THEY'RE SCOPS OWLS AREN'T THEY?
Akaashikeiji95: Yes. Do you like owls?
Owl_guy_4: I LOVE THEM THEY'RE MY FAV ANIMAL!!
Akaashikeiji95: I see. They're mine too.
Owl_guy_4: OMGGG THAT'S SO COOLL!!!
The owl guy then sent a GIF of a cute cartoon owl with the words "hoot!" Coming off it in a speech bubble. Akaashi smiled and liked the message before clicking onto the owl guy's account.
Akaashi found out that the account owner's real name was Bokuto, (as it said at the top of his profile, with about ten exclamation marks after it).
He looked over Bokuto's three most recent posts, one was of a very badly cropped google image of an owl.
The other was a couple slides of an owlish looking man holding the phone whilst a man with abnormal bed hair pulled various poses, and another shorter man behind them looked like he would rather be anywhere but with them right now. Akaashi observed how the bed-headed man was tagged, however, the smaller man wasn't. The caption of the post read "Day out with Kubro and Kenma! Kenma didn't wanna be tagged tho!!"
The post underneath that was an owl Bokuto must've attempted to draw, but it looked more like a spiky egg with two eyes and a beak (Akaashi assumed that's what the triangle in the centre was meant to be). The next slide was the picture Bokuto had been trying to copy off, and well, Akaashi applauded the effort.
Akaashi scrolled off his posts and back to his main profile. Then he hit the follow button.
