Frances' POV

Jaydee's in her company today working. She doesn't know where I am, I haven't told her yet.

"Hey, Lisa." I greeted the secretary.

"Hey." she greeted back in return.

"Frances?" She called my name when she realized who I was. I just past through her and head straight to a office.

"Because I've been dealing with these people forever and I know they have..." I heard kielle said on the phone.

She quit being a Flight attendant after we got engaged saying she doesn't want to be away from me so she take over their family business instead. She smiled immediately when she saw me inside her office.

" Something important just popped up.
I'm gonna call you right back. Okay." She said and hanged up the phone.

"Hi." She asked me to sit and she come nearer leaning jn front of her table staring at me.

" Hi." I greeted back in return.

"Please." She continue to asked me to sit.

"So, you remember that time at the lake,

when you told me you'd always
have my back, no matter what?" I said going straight to the point why I go here.

"The night in the boathouse." Kielle said remembering what I'm pointing out.

"Yeah. I remember."

"So, can you please tell me
what went down with us?" I ask her straightforwardly.

"Only you, Frances, can dump a person, then come back and demand answers." Right she wasn't aware of my condition.

"So I dumped you?" I asked her. She just chuckled and stared at me without losing her smile.

"A cruel, hard, pre-wedding dumping." She describe it very specifically.

"Why?" I asked. I think the reason is included in memories I've forgotten because of the accident.

"Well, that's a question
that I and all of my friends

and the two rebound girls, yeah,
we'd all love an answer to." She said while still smiling trying to suppress her laugh.

"Come on, seriously. I must have had some kind of reason." I said in a pleading tone.

"You...

You... You changed.

You talked differently,
you dressed differently.

You weren't sure about law school any more.

And you definitely weren't sure
about me any more." She said trying to give me a decent answer.

"Did I give you your ring back?" I asked.
"Yeah, you did." I psychologically face-palm.

"Who has that now?" I asked her while clenching my teeth. I don't know if I feel disappointed or this is just my past feeling from my past memories.

"No one yet." When she said that it feels like something heavy just got lifted off of me.

"But I've been with Rose.
You remember? From Duke's class." She said and I just nod at her.

"I've been with Rose for about a year now.

I couldn't wait forever, Frances." She continues to talk feeling apologetic that we couldn't be together.

"You couldn't have anticipated

that I'd have a brain trauma
and forget our break-up

and come waltzing into your office
demanding answers?
What's wrong with you?" I said  in return pretending to laugh masking my desire to get her back.

"I'm sorry. I'm gonna let you go back to work." I said finally concluding our conversation.

"Sure." She said. We looked at each other without budging when suddenly I put my hand around her nape and kiss her. We we're like that for a minute.

"Sorry. I'm sorry." Apologizing for my behaviour.

"I was not expecting that." Kielle said after she snapped back from reality.

"Habit, I guess." I said looking down. I can't look her at the eyes.

"I honestly didn't even know where
I was headed until I found myself here.

It just seems so ridiculous to me
that I shut everyone out for five years.

It just doesn't feel right." I reasoned out before leaving her dumbfounded. I walk as fast as I could to get out of that olace.
