Violet's PoV:
"You've got to what?!" Izzy's voice was wrapped in sympathy for me. Her doe eyes were as wide as ping-pong balls.
"McGonagall's asked me to watch over a pixie later with Draco!" Even saying the sentence out loud made me want to shove my face in my filled cauldron. "They've got a pixie for something the third years are doing in transfiguration and McGonagall said watching them will give Draco and I time to bond."
The thought of spending my free time locked in a classroom with nothing but a fairy and Draco to keep me company is not my idea of an ideal extracurricular activity.
Slughorn was talking absently at the front of the class about some potion or another. Most students had their heads on their desks or their cheeks slumped on their hands. Although Slughorn was a lot more tolerable than Snape, he was more boring than well... anything.
Izzy scrunched up her face in a displeased manner as she let out a slow irritated breath. She too had her head tilted to the side so she could rest her cheek on her palm. "God, Violet. I'd drop out of Hogwarts. No grades are worth that kind of torture. You'd catch me tracking down a werewolf before you'd find me alone with Draco at night."
I knew saying no to McGonagall would have just left me with unnecessary stress so of course I said yes. Besides, maybe it will allow me to finally catch up on astronomy homework and maybe... just maybe it won't be that bad. I mean, he was kind of amusing the other night when we were hiding in the kitchen... who am I kidding? I'm going to rip my hair out!
As I began absentmindedly doodling infinity signs on my parchment I felt the back of my head burn slightly, not physically but it was like a gut feeling that someone was watching me.
"Bet he's dreading it too," Izzy uttered and when I looked back up at her she was observing something over my shoulder. "Don't look but Draco's staring at you... great, now he's staring at me for staring at him. Two can play at that game, Malfoy."
Izzy's soft expression abruptly shifted to one of pure disdain as she glared down Draco. The urge to turn around was too much. Shifting slightly in my seat, my head turned to look behind me.
Sure enough, Draco was staring all right. His steel eyes redirected themselves to mine. They were lit in the soft hue of the lights, appearing as pale as light grey clouds.
My stomach flipped. Why?
Goyle, who was sat beside Draco, watched the interaction with a puzzled expression and then elbowed him to cut it out. Draco dropped his eyes and engaged back in the conversation with his minions. I turned my head back around.
"Freak," Izzy mumbled before resting her head on the desk.
The same spot in the back of my head burned. I went to turn my head again but Molly quickly placed her hand on my arm.
"Violet, stop staring at Malfoy!" She insisted sharply through gritted teeth. My eyes went to her and my cheeks heated. I really need to see a doctor for that.
My mouth opened and I was about to argue that Draco was the one staring at me first when Molly looked me dead in the eye and said, "If you stare at him he will just assume you have a crush on him. It's boy language or whatever."
"As if Draco would think Violet could like him. She only has crushes on decent people." Izzy mumbled into the robes on her arm as her eyes drifted shut.
"He's so full of himself that he would definitely think I could have a crush on him." The idea was laughable. Imagine.
Boy language or whatever sucks.
