Keefe's POVIt had been 1 month since Keefe watched Sophie, Calla and his mother disappear. He had walked into Calla's room to see what the yelling was about, when he witnessed Sophie lunging for Gisela as she stepped into the light wisping them away.
Dex soon ran up telling Keefe that the panic button had been pressed. They tracked it to a general location, but they couldn't find her anywhere.
Everyone was blaming themselves. For letting their guard down against the Neverseen.
They should've known that, now there was a Sophie 2.0 that the dormant Neverseen would try something.
Ro and Sandor had looked everywhere. Sandor had especially blamed himself, as well as Bo. They kept on claiming that they should've been with her with Calla.
Most days Keefe just went through paperwork for the council, while secretly interviewing and pulling as much info on the Neverseen that he could.
The Collective had come up with nothing as well. They couldn't find a hint of Sophie anywhere.
Today marked 1 month to the day that Sophie and Calla had been taken.
Biana and Fitz stayed at Hallowmist with him helping with everything. The entire friend group was actually, everyone doubling up in rooms or staying individually.
Edaline and Grady had been a mess the first couple weeks, but now they were just determined to find the Neverseen and destroy them.
Keefe and Fitz were looking through the documents of past Neverseen hideouts, the others all just searching through the known members and last known movements when a knock came at the door.
"I'll get it." Keefe said, he walked over to the double doors and opened them. He was greeted by a person he had never seen in life before.
The guy was as tall as him, pure white hair, looked around Keefe's age and had eyes as blue as the sea. "Hi, sorry, I've been looking for someone for awhile. Keefe Sencen? This was like the last residence I found under his name. Does he happen to live here?" The guys voice was pretty deep, and he had a scar from the top of his eye brow down over his eyelid, over the corner of his mouth and ended at his jawline.
"You're talking to him. Who may you be?" Keefe asked sceptically.
The guys eye's bulged out and then answered, "Hey, I'm Arlo. Sophie said you could help."
Keefe's thoughts stopped dead in their tracks.
"Sophie?" He whispered."Can I come in? I have a lot to explain." Keefe nodded and let Arlo in.
"Hey, who was at the door, what-" Biana stopped as soon as she saw Arlo.
"He knows where Sophie and Calla are." Keefe said still in shock.
That's when the room exploded into chaos, Biana and Linh shouting. Dex holding Arlo by the shirt, Fitz blindly staring at Arlo and Tam, well Tam did what Keefe never expected him to do.
Tam punched Arlo across the face, creating a red welt on Arlo's face.
"YOU TOOK MY NIECE FROM ME?" He punched Arlo again in the cheekbone.
"STOP!" Keefe shouted. "Guys, if we want to find Sophie and Calla, we need Arlo to be conscious!" Keefe stared down Tam, he let down his fist that was raised to pull another punch.
Dex let go of Arlo and Tam backed away. The shouting stopped and everyone kind of just stared at Arlo. "I think you guys should sit down for this." He said just above a whisper.
Arlo explained that a month ago Gisela and Fintan had dragged a unconscious Sophie into their cell room. They said that the child was the target, but she jumped through to try and take her back. They kept her drugged for 3 days before she woke up. Arlo said that they decided to keep her alive, just to get Calla to cooperate and stop crying. So they sedated her with Soporidine, not before Sophie had told Arlo to run and find Keefe if he even wanted to be trusted and loved again.
Which he did. So he ran the next week looking for Keefe. Arlo had hid in the lost cities for years, not gathering around public places. His father had stolen information from the council and broken into Exile to get his mom out. He was caught, which made Arlo a fugitive. He joined the Neverseen out of spite, but after hearing what Sophie had to say about the Neverseen, he had realized that he didn't want to be apart of their destruction.
He had realized that his parents were influenced by the Neverseen and didn't want to be apart of that evil.
So, he did what Sophie said to do.
Find Keefe Sencen.
And he did.
"So, why shouldn't I knock you out right now and give you into the Council?" Tam asked, voice as cold as death.
I know where she is." And the room went quiet.
He told them that they had brought her to a warehouse in the forbidden cities, they kept her there in a room sedated.
"Go get Edaline and Grady." Keefe said quietly, "Also Bronte, he can use his inflicting skills."
"Hey wait a minute, how can we trust anything this guy says?" Fitz asks visibly annoyed.
"Lock me away for all I care. I'm just worried about that child." He looked to the ground and twirled his thumbs.
Tam glared at him with pure rage. "You did nothing," He sighed, "nothing to help our niece? You could have done something."
Arlo looked up with wide eyes, "Believe me, I tried. I was going to take Calla with me, but Gisela wouldn't let anyone play with her without her there. I tried to take her believe me, I was just scared what they would do with Sophie if I took her. They were only keeping her alive for Calla."
Keefe grumbled at that.
"Get the Council to hold him somewhere, while we go to the location." Keefe said to no one in particular.
"Let's go."
"Let's get our niece and sister back." Tam said stomping out the door.
