CHAPTER TWO

"You really seem to make a mark everywhere you go," Larry says, biting into his apple.  "I have no idea what you are talking about," I sigh, trying to ignore him.  "All I've heard all day is how you've stood up to that bitch of a teacher," he says indifferent to all the stares directed at us. "This is so going to get old," I whisper across the table.  I am truly trying to read my book, but I can't seem to concentrate.

"I really don't think that I'll ever NOT like attention," he articulates.  "That may be true, but I know I will get tired of this eventually," I sigh, closing my book as I see Lisa sit down across the cafeteria, with some people that only I would guess are counted as the popular group.  Since I would be a junior in college right now, Lisa would be a senior.  So that means that Lisa and I would be in the same grade since I was pretending to be younger.  "She's getting along nicely," Larry says, following my gaze.  I sigh, and then wonder out loud, "I wonder why she would become popular, and she has the personality of a skunk."

"You have to admit, she does look kind of pretty, in a total Taylor Momsen kind of way," he whispers, still staring at her.  I nod in agreement, if anything, my sister was beautiful, in a total gothic kind of way. Running my hand through my hair, I think of my totally scary looks.  My eyes purple, my nose small and my mouth full, in reality that isn't such a bad combination, but my snooty attitude ads bunches of unattractiveness.  To this day, I still haven't had a boyfriend.  I usually tell myself, it's because I love working hard too much to actually want to concentrate on anything other than winning, but I know it's just because guys don't want a girl who acts like she is better than them.

I can see a cute boy put his arm around Lisa, and a totally unwanted, motherly feeling comes over me and I want to march over there and kick his ass far away from her.  I rest my head on Larry's shoulder, shaking the thought away, and close my eyes.

"Excuse me, hi," a girl says, and I find that she is the one that was sitting with Lisa.  I see my sister in the far back of the entourage that followed the girl, and she is tucked in to the chest of the same boy at the table.  "Hello," Larry says in an English accent, and I smile briefly, picking my head up off of his shoulder. "My name is Laura, and I was just wondering if you guys wanted to come to my party this Saturday?" she says holding out two cards.  "We might have to check our schedules," Larry says in a no nonsense tone, but I know he's playing around with them, they don't seem to know that though.  "Well, if you can make it, then I would be extremely happy," she replies with a smile on her face.  Lisa, barely realizing Laura invited us to be her friends, says, "No! They can't come!"  Smiling coldly at Lisa, I tell Laura, "Actually we can come, since Saturday nights is always free for us, right Larry?"  He nods with an amused smile on his face.  "Great!" Laura says handing us the cards.  "Perfect," I exclaim, staring evilly at Lisa.  She narrows her eyes at me, and purses her lips.  "Do you mind if I sit here?" asks Laura and the whole gang sits around us.

To say Lisa was not happy would indeed be an understatement.  While I was enjoying her discomfort, I didn't notice that two boys were heading towards our table.  Two very handsome boys.

Larry nudged me as they stopped at our table and I stopped paying attention to whatever stupid story a girl was saying. They looked like brothers; by the way they were around each other.  I could almost picture what Larry must be thinking right now, considering how beautiful these boys were.  One of them looked gay, just by the way he was dressed and by his demeanor.   His clothes were very expensive looking and the way he looked at everyone, was how Larry would.  When his eyes and Larry's met, I knew it was love at first sight.
