MERMAIDS OF THE LONELY COAST 2 (THE NEW MOON)

CHAPTER NINE

Those who enter lonely coast will never come out the same again...........

"CORA!!"
Ruth knew that no matter how much she screamed her name she wasn't coming back, Didi rushed in with a few merfolks, they all left out a loud sad cry, that sounded almost like a howl, Didi pulled Ruth away from her.
"It's okay... She lived a good life"
"How... Can .. you.. even say that.."
Ruth was the only one crying, the sea carried her tears away, she closed her eyes and buried herself in Didi's embrace
"It's your time now"
The entire tribe kept making the same sound, it was like their way of moaning and telling outsiders that their queen and leader was dead.

Carmen was sleeping when she heard the cry
"Oh no!"
She whispered and swam out of her cave, she knew the whole of lonely coast could hear the cry
"Carmen!!"
She looked up and saw Yura, Ayla and Ky. They all looked worried
"Ruth, we must go to her"
They all swam the fastest they could to Ruth's tribe, they were let in by the watch merman, one mermaid led them to where Ruth laid on a rock crying.
"Oh Ruth!!"
She turned to face them, eyes red rimmed but no tears on her cheeks
"I'm so sorry honey"
Ruth rushed into Carmen's arms and stayed there for a while, sobbing, Yura stroke her back encouragingly, Ayla and Ky hugged her tail
"Don't cry Aunt Ruth"
Ayla said her voice small and sad
"It's Okay, we are here for you, all of us"
Ruth nodded stroking Ayla's hair, she took some time and calmed herself
"When we cry, the ocean carriers our tears away, to the place of our ancestors"
Carmen said stroking her cheek gently. Ruth took a deep breath, she couldn't afford to be weak right now, a whole tribe were under her rule now, merfolks that would follow her anywhere she ordered them to. This was a huge responsibility
"I'm fine, before her death Cora revealed some of her memories to me, something bad is going to happen in Lonely Coast, its not safe, we most prepare"
"Of course... But its mating Season, many Mermaids are already with child"
"True"
Ruth looked at Ayla and Ky, she smiled sadly
"I have to go somewhere"

Yeon heard the bars lift, he turned to see Ruth, she rushed into his arms and he hugged her tightly
"I'm so sorry, about your aunt"
She didn't answer she just stayed there quietly for a while, when she pulled away, she looked gaze with him
"I want to know.... How it feels to have a mate"
She said and with that she pushed him against the wall and sank her teeth into his chest, then his neck. All the while, he let out a soft moan, his hand buried in her hair as she kept biting him. .
"Ruth.... Please stop...."
"You want me?"
"You... You know I don't"
He felt flushed
"Good"
She took a last bit, sinking her teeth deeper into his other neck, she drank his blood, she place her hand on the back of his hand and pushed his head, close to her neck, he smiled happily and bit her too, they tail twirled together, the electric wave shooting all over their body, they released a fluid that signified acceptance, she was his mate and him hers.  They held each other for a while, in silence.
"What made you change your mind?"
Yeon finally spoke up
"I believe you, my mother wanted a union between your people and mine, she wanted peace in all of Lonely Coast and I will fulfill her dreams"
"What about us?"
"It will take sometime, but I'll love to discover this feeling, explore it and see where it takes us, but you must be honest and truthful from now oo"
"I promise"
He said, tilting her chin up, he claimed her lips in a passionate kiss, that left them both slightly breathless.

Carmen watch stared at her hands thoughtfully, Ruth was right, something was happening in lonely coast and involved the moon, her body was already changing, there was a certain glow to her, that wasn't natural, she could feel her tail itching to transform and her powers they were growing stronger, even Ruth had displayed new powers. This didn't feel good. She needed to see Fawn, she would have the answers, she was the priestess after all. She sigh and wrapped her arms around herself, she was cold, for the first time, she was feeling cold.
"Carmen"
She spurn around and meet Abina's worried gaze
"Sister"
They bumper forehead and hugged
"What is going on? The water, its cold"
"You feel it too right? Something is happening Abina.... You most reduce your patrol to our borders... I can't bare to lose you"
She said stroking Abina's face, Abina made a coiling sound and shook her head
"I worked so hard to prove to the others that I was good enough to join the warriors, to fight, to protect our tribe, I trained ten times harder than everyone else, I can't stay behind while everyone else takes the risk..."
"Listen to me for once Abina...."
Carmen was cut short by the violent screams of mermaids, she could hear loud hits and bites
"What is going on?"
Her and Abina swam to where the noise was coming from. She was shocked to see two mermaids fighting, they bit, scratched and hit each other, one of the mermaid slammed the older ones back with he'd tail, the older one screamed and for a moment she was immobile, normally when Mermaids fought, nobody usually interfered, but it was the way they were fighting that worried Carmen, the younger one, pulled the older mermaid's hair, dragged her closer, sank her teeth into the base of her throat and ripped out her guts and let her go, the older woman's body sank to the ocean ground, lifeless. The young one screamed, the sound was horrific, everyone covered their ears at the painful sound. Barely able to hear Carmen stretch froth her hand and created a water chain, it tightened on the struggling mermaid
"She's gone wild"
Abina said and moved towards her, her spare in front of her
"What are you doing? We don't kill our own"
Abina tried talking to the mermaid, she gasp in shock as the mermaid try to attack her, she scratched Abina's face
"Abina, move away"
Carmen shouted and froze the mermaid, she remained still, unable to move, talk or blink
"Carmen..... How... How did you... Do that?"
"I have no idea... For now while she is till frozen, let's keep her safe, away from others"
Everyone was staring at Carmen like she was the stranger. She herself was afraid, what was going on in Lonely Coast?
