Jasper never knew he could be so nervous, except when he first met Evelynn. That was different. He didn't know he'd love her. He didn't know she would be one of the world greatest treasures. Jasper didn't know he shouldn't have doubted anything about her. Jasper didn't know one day he'd be walking up to her door hoping she say yes. He didn't know he'd be walking up to her door, hoping she'd marry him one day.
Jasper took a breath and knocked. Charlie answered, but Jasper could hear movement upstairs. "Hey, Jasper." Charlie greeted him with a nod. "Come on in." Charlie moved out of the way so Jasper could walk into the small, but comfortable home.
"Hello, sir. How are you doing?" Jasper asked, smiling warmly.
"Well, I'm alright. A little surprised. One of my girls is getting married very soon." Charlie told him, no anger rising, but only worry. Worry for his daughter. "How about you?" Charlie asked.
"Oh, uh, I'm okay." Jasper's heart would've stopped dead if he were human. Though Charlie wasn't angry, he was about as protective of 'his girls' as Evelynn was of those she loved. Charlie, though he didn't quite look the part, was very threatening. "Just a little busy, with, you know, the wedding..."
Charlie smiled. "Yeah, I know." He sighed. Evelynn arrived just as the room started to get quiet and very awkward for Jasper.
Evelynn grinned. "Charlie, are you still trying to scare away my boyfriend?" Evelynn's head tilted in curiosity. Then it was gone. All that awkwardness Jasper felt from the conversation that happened only seconds ago disappeared. Jasper smiled with amusement at Evelynn's teasing.
"I would never." Charlie joked, pushing it farther by giving Jasper a teasing glare, making Jasper chuckle.
"Mhm, I'm sure. Well, I'll be on my way." Evelynn hugged Charlie, something that always seemed to surprise him, but she did it every time since I've been back. Evelynn wasn't very affectionate, so when she did this to Charlie it was so special to him. Charlie's emotions became less worrisome whenever she or Bella gave him a rare hug.
"Bye, you Evelynn, Jasper." Charlie smiled. "Have a nice time."
"You too, Charlie!" Evelynn called as we made our way out the door. Evelynn got in Jasper's car as usual. "So, where to?" She asked, once Jasper was his my car. Jasper vaguely remembered when Evelynn had to know every detail about what they were doing when they first met. Now she blindly jumped into his car, not caring if he was some sort of monster, the same kind that killed her family. Ironic.
"You'll find out." Jasper grinned.
Evelynn threw her head back, hitting the seat. "I trust you, and love you, so you should just tell me." She whined making Jasper chuckle as he pulled out of the Swans small driveway. "Oh, come on! Just this once, please?" Evelynn begged.
"Just be patient." Jasper told her as he sped toward their destination. Evelynn whined for at least five minutes until she finally gave up. Jasper mindlessly had his hand on Evelynn's thigh, something he did naturally. Jasper always felt better around her, something so cheesy and stupid, but Jasper couldn't care less about it. Not when his every thought was pretty much that cheesy.
"We're here." Jasper said, parking at the familiar dead end.
Evelynn's eyebrows narrowed. "Last time we were here, three vampires tried to kill Bella and I."
"Okay, so we're not going to the baseball field." Jasper rolled his eyes. "I can't believe I never showed you this." Jasper shook his head as he got out, Evelynn following suit.
"Okay, so I've never been to this supposed place, and it's close to the field that everything-you know-happened?" Evelynn raised an eyebrow.
"Will you just trust me?" Jasper rolled his eyes, making Evelynn scoff.
"Did you just roll your eyes at me?" She asked, her mood and tone playful.
"No." Jasper shrugged. "I would never show attitude to my love." He grinned.
"Good, because if you did, you'd have a death wish." Evelynn threatened, kissing Jasper's cheek.
"Oh, you think you could kill me, you know with my skill set?" Jasper raised an eyebrow.
"I definitely could." Evelynn said confidently. "Now, where are we going?" She asked, back to her usual, 'I need to know everything self.'
"Fine, are you sure you're good to follow me?" Jasper asked. Evelynn nodded and Jasper led her through the woods, still surprised he hadn't showed her this place.
Jasper stopped abruptly, causing Evelynn to almost run into him, which would actually cause Jasper physical pain. "Jasper! You're such an ass!" They both laughed till Evelynn was gasping for air.
Jasper looked around the area, hearing the water run close by. It was about as green as everything else in forks was, but it beautiful. It was the only place nobody knew about, not even Edward.
"Jasper, this is so beautiful." Evelynn said, looking around the small field in amazement.
