The field looked like something from a movie. It reminded Evelynn of the place she met the wolves at, but it was smaller. There was a river close by that made the place quite loud, but peaceful. The trees were so tall, but they didn't block out the sun.
The area was filled with dandelions, lavender, and oddly enough sunflowers. "Okay, it's beautiful, but what the hell are sunflowers doing here?"
Jasper laughed, making Evelynn smile. "I have no idea, but the sun gets through her, apparently."
"No it doesn't. Well not often." Evelynn told him. "You know the thing where if sunflowers can't find the sun they look at each other?" Jasper nodded. "Well, these ones are looking at each other, and they're obviously not in the best condition." Evelynn explained.
"Hm, maybe I'm like a sunflower, cause, you know." He looked at Evelynn with a cheeky smile. He knew she hated that.
She shook her head. "You're such an idiot. You can't be in the sun." She rolled her eyes. "What are we doing up here anyway?"
"Would I be such in idiot if I told you the reason we're up here is because I wanted to tell you what I've been thinking about?" Jasper asked.
"It's that important?" Evelynn asked, confused. She has forgotten.
"Yes." Jasper shook his head, smiling. He pulled the small velvet box out of his pocket. The only reason she hadn't noticed it was his shirt covering said pocket. "I know you don't like cheesy things, but let me do this." He got on one knee, Evelynn smiled, shaking her head in surprise. "Evelynn, I honestly had no idea what I was going to say. I still don't. There's no reason I shouldn't be able to express how much I love and care for you, but I think us being tied to each other forever is a good way to go about it. Evelynn Lee Charleston-Swan, will you marry me?"
"Yes." Evelynn's head was spinning with joy. About a million thoughts were running through her head. Jasper slid the silver ring with a beautiful diamond, and two other small gems beside it, on Evelynn's ring finger. "One on condition." Evelynn added. "Maybe two."
Jasper stood up, chuckling a little. "Can't you just be in the moment?" He kissed her passionately, the amount of euphoria he felt in the moment couldn't be matched.
"Alice can't plan anything but the dress I'm wearing, and she can't even glance at the guest list." Evelynn giggled at the thought. She'd be absolutely horrified.
Jasper chuckled. "Evelynn if you said you just wanted to elope, no guests, no announcement, no anything, I would definitely say yes."
"Such an idiot." Evelynn smiled.
"Mission accomplished?" Jasper grinned.
"100%" Evelynn muttered, hugging Jasper. His arms feeling so safe, so warm.
