DIVINE VISIT

One year has passed since my mother-in-law's death. The Goddess Oya had not visited. The pack, unable to heal, remained numb. A weighted silence flowed in, taking residence in our territory. The most affected being Alejandro, Sable, Randall & Cocoa. Unable to perform their duties. They simply sit by the chestnut tree, with bowed heads and closed eyes, facing an empty shrine erected to my mother-in-law. Often staying until the sun had set.

Everyone took turns bringing their food, often carrying it back inside, cold and untouched. One day, Randall no longer went. As I entered our home, carrying Alejandro's sleeping human form, Seeing Randall emerge from the kitchen, I asked him. "Hey. You" With his response, Randall confirms. We climbed the stairs to our bedrooms. Stopping at the top step. "She was never there, Alpha. Makes no sense paying respects to an empty shrine. I can do that in my room." Sullen Randall continues, walking dejected, reaching for their bedroom door. He was moving on.

Silently, Robert appeared, having opened the door. Just as defeated, his body language cannot do anything else; he embraces and holds Randall. Here, Randall sobs again. Bringing the vigilant attention of my parents. Coming to stand at the bottom of the railing, their sorrowful eyes silently watch my second beta cradle my first. Slowly closing their bedroom door.

But Alejandro was another matter. Where Randall moved on. Alejandro had not. He would sit out there for hours. Often in Sable's form, sleeping at the shrine. Coming in when it was well into dark or carried in by me. One day, in doing a developed routine. I step onto the balcony, checking on him, only to be surprised. As I gazed, My heart raced; my nerves jittered. As always, he was beautiful. Enhanced even more so with a view of the lake before him. Sable stood attentively on the riverbank's ridge. A gentle sunbeam from the heavens extends, encasing Sable.

Sable's muzzle remains positioned skywards; his eyelids closed. A gentle breeze lifted long, rich strands of his pelt, swaying in the wind. His majestic form appeared free of heaviness in his heart. Somehow, both Sable and Alejandro received the peace they both needed.

Uncertain of what this could mean, I abandoned our bedroom, running out and down our curving stairs towards the packhouse doors. But I was not alone. So too had our family. All were hurrying to packhouse doors. My mother says, "I saw him from the kitchen window, Reuben. Prime Alpha is.." emotionally.

Closing the distance to the door, I respond, "Yes, I saw mama." Grasping the knob, pulling the door open to step outside. We halt, greeted by Crimson's Mother, Goddess Oya. She knelt on one knee in homage to the old man's appearance, her back towards us. Guiding our sight, we see him accompanied by a majestic, mature mulatto woman, both standing on the other side of the riverbank. They stood gazing towards Sable, waiting for him to notice them.

Oya clarified. "Obatala and Yemaya Reuben have come to give their condolences and aid him to heal." Their presence was surreal. Radiance of bodies flowed peace and gentleness, spread outwards. Reaching to where we all stood. I could feel it infusing an unearthly calmness within me to my core. As did my entire family.

Goddess says. "They have come not for Sabalius. Rather Alejandro." Her head turns to Randall, "As were you, Randall. Go to them, for they wait for you both." Crimson's baritone wulf spoken voice questions, "Mother? BABA & IYA?? Oya's voice is gentle & maternal as she answers, "They bring a gift of peace, Necromio. Nothing more. One, both sons of our revered Estrella severely require." power of my wulf companion's tone is mild, quietly responding, "yes mother,... they do." For just a moment longer, I gaze at my mate.

Without telling me, Crimson's request to Olofi was granted. I know this.

Crimson, feeling reassured, speaks to me from the spirit realm. "They will heal now, Reuben." As I am not a practitioner, I may not understand the Santeria faith. But I trust Crimson. I resign to his words, withdrawing silently back inside. They are safe. Crimson tells me, "All will be well again." adding, "In time."
