When they finally arrived at the quarry, the rest of the Losers were already waiting for them. The vibe between the four of them walking there had turned sour and Eddie was hoping that would change once they were all together. Beverley jogged to Bill, hugging him. Ben adverted his gaze, and so did Stan. Mike waved at the arriving group.
"Took you guys long enough." Mike said as they walked up to the group. "Though you might have gotten lost again." He looked at Richie and Eddies linked hands and Eddie wondered how Mike felt about them.
"Sorry, just walked slow." Richie said, giving Eddie's hand a squeeze.
"W-well is there a-a reason you made this-s meeting ma-mandatory?" Bill asked, standing an awkward distance away from Beverley.
"I can't miss my friends?" Richie asked defensively.
"No but we were worried something was wrong or something." Ben said.
"We're all fine. Are we swimming or just gonna stare at each other?" Stan asked annoyance clear on his face. He took off his shirt and began to take his pants off. Eddie raised his eyebrows.
"Well someone's in a rush." Beverley laughed. Stanley ran jumping off the edge into the water in nothing but his plaid boxers. Eddie looked to the rest of them and laughed at Bills face.
"What?" He asked his face slightly pink.
"Nothing I just don't remember Stan being the spontaneous one." Eddie said letting go of Richie's hand.
"Or him being so... fit." Ben added. They all looked at him. "I just mean he isn't like scrawny anymore. He has muscles and stuff." It amazed Eddie that even after Ben went through all that work to lose weight, he still envied everyone else. Ben wasn't the skinniest but he wasn't as big as he used to be and Eddie was proud he was trying to stay healthy. He loved him either way but Ben seemed happier this way.
"Yea.." Bill mumbled. Eddie looked at him curiously and told himself to talk to him alone at some point today, but for now he wanted to swim. He pulled his shirt of and them his pants, sporting some of Richie's boxer briefs. Richie eyed him and Eddie laughed, running away jumping down into the water.
"COME ON LOSERS!" he yelled on the way down. It was the perfect day, the sun was strong due to the storm so it was hot for the first time in a while, causing the cold water of the quarry to be refreshing. Eddie popped up at the surface, remembering how he thought he was going to die the last time he was here.
"I hate your boyfriend." Stan said swimming next to him.
"Stan I'm gonna be honest," Eddie said swimming past him to find a shallower area where he could stand. "I hate you right now."
"What? Why?" He asked swimming in front of him.
"You brought up his family Stan.." Eddie said, watching as Bev jumped of the edge plummeting through the air into the water.
"Yea I know it was a dick move but it got him mad enough to tell the truth so." He trailed off looking at the water.
"Yea well I'm sure there was other ways. He told you about them leaving?" Eddie asked slowly.
"Yea... this morning. We all know you're living with him because of your mom but I think me and Bev are the only ones to know about that."
"Then you're even more of a dick. You knew that pain was fresh and you still used it against him." Eddie said swimming away from him seeing Richie jump in. They both swam to each other, meeting somewhere in the middle.
"Hi." Richie smiled wrapping his arms around Eddie lifting him up, forcing him to wrap his legs around Richie's waist.
"Hi." Eddie replied, placing his hands on Richie's face. "You ok?"
