Chapter 30.
We were submerged in complete blackness. I could barely see myself blinking it was that dark. I had never realized that without the large number of candles dispersed throughout the rooms, there was no option for light. The moons outside provided very little moonlight through the open skylight above. I could feel the body heat radiating from Prince Angel beside me, but that was it.
I had released his hand in my surprise but was surprised when I felt him pull me close to him. I wasn't sure what he had planned, but I knew that I could not let it happen. I had kissed or had been with sexually 2 men in under six months and I was not interested in doing that for the third time. The third time would not be the charm for me.
It had been a week with limited injections of the serum they had previously given me, the vial filled with less and less of it. Today had been a full day without it in my system and now I had all of my power back. However, I hadn't used it in so long. I could barely remember what the extent of my power was. I could only pray that the inferno I had created in the cellar back with the Order of Eden wouldn't make an appearance with Camille around me.
However, I knew that it had taken the Cursed servants two hours to light every single one of those candles, no matter the size. I knew there was no way they would want to do that. At that moment, I decided to be selfless for the first time in my life. I closed my eyes, at least I thought I did and concentrated on my Cursed to allow all the candles in the room to be relit.
Small sparks formed on the floor, much to my own surprised, almost as if they were the faintest of glowing embers. They floated up, like sparks from a fire, glowing brightly. They moved all around me, like a small orb. I could finally see Angel, his golden eyes looking down at me only slightly. He had a small toothless smile as if realizing something he had already believed.
He released me, noticing the small bits of fire coming between us. He took a few steps back, analyzing me carefully. I could see the reflection of my eyes in a nearby window, glowing brightly like a wildfire. In comparison with my dress, I practically looked like a woman on fire.
The moment the candles lit is when it all happened so fast I felt like I didn't even have time to take a breath. It was a blue flash of some sort of electricity, like a flash of lightning. The only thing is, it wasn't. It started off small, and then it started to grow into some sort of blue-flowing vortex. It looked like a circle, though it had just appeared practically in thin air.
Then stepped out a person. A person I recognized almost instantly. After them, another person stepped out eyes staring at me with a serious look.
I knew it was a bad idea to trust her.
Viper stood beside Bane, a fresh wound on the side of her face and down to her neck. She was clutching it tightly, blood dripping onto the floor. My first thought immediately left my mind. Something was wrong.
People around us gasped, taking steps backward and whispering. Exterminators came out from behind the guests, fist ready and body hair standing up. No one was prepared for the two people that had entered. Not that Viper would be any threat. The real danger was the man with black eyes and dark hair. His milky skin was so thin I could see the purple and blue veins under his body. His nails dripped two things that I hadn't noticed until now.
Blood and poison.
Viper was dead the moment I realized this, yet she remained alive with her hands grasping her face tightly. I could only wonder how long the poison took to get to a person's heart. I could only imagine it wasn't extremely long. Just long enough to get into a portal, grab me, and get us out before she died.
