Gordon Lachance
After I told Chris that I was going to start finding a girlfriend, he didn't seem very happy. A little mad actually. Just weird because usually he's always happy for me no matter what.
"Are you..Ok, Chris?" I said, innocently. We both turned to face each other, but then Chris quickly looked back down.
"Yeah? Why do you ask? I'm happy for you man. You should get a girlfriend."
His answer felt weird in my stomach, he wants me to have a girlfriend? Is he really happy for me? For some reason I didn't want him to be happy for me, almost like I wanted him to get jealous..But I didn't say anything..
It's probably nothing.
"Oh ok. Cool."
The next few minutes were silent. What was there to say? Chris was obviously not in a good mood.
"So why are you here?" I asked, breaking the tension.
"To get away from my old man. He's such a mess and sometimes I just need to get away.."
That explains his bad mood. He looked so good when he said that. Staring into the trees above us, using one hand to hold up his body.
"That's where the little bruise came from..Are you ok? I can fix it for you if you want.." I noticed before, but I wanted to talk a bit before he told me why. It happens to Chris so often it became almost like a normal and daily thing.
"No it's ok, I'm alright." He replied, turning to face me and looking up and down.
I knew he was lying, but I wasn't in the mood to argue. "That's good..Hey you got any smokes on ya?" I asked, trying to sound more enthusiastic.
"You know I do."

As we laid next to each other in the grass we talked about things we never told anyone else. Random stuff teenage boys don't usually talk about. Everybody our age is talking about girls and sex and that kind of stuff, we never talked about girls, we never needed girls. Each other was all we needed.Even though that sounds super gay.
"This is really a good time, real fine." Chris stated, talking the cigarette out of his mouth and resting his arm on the grass.
"The best." I replied, pressing and twisting my smoke on the grass.
We turned to face each other. His blue eyes were one of the best pair of eyes I had ever seen, and his hair looked so soft. Sometimes I just randomly put my hand threw his hair..It made me feel comfortable, for some reason.
"Do you think getting a girlfriend is a bad idea? When I'm only using her..." I whispered to Chris.
"I think you should do what you want, man. But also I think you shouldn't use some random girl just to impress your parents.." Chris softly replied.
My eyes looked down but my head stayed up, this caused Chris to move so one arm was holding up his weight.
"Listen Gordie..You shouldn't have to get a girlfriend just because your parents are assholes. Sure everybody wants attention and love from their parents but this is Castle Rock, everyone sucks. But hey you have me? I'm no parents of yours but anything you need emotionally I'm always here for you, man. At least your folks still give you food and stuff like that..Their not that fucked up." Chris said with confidence. I guess he has a point..I shouldn't use someone to impress my parents. Though it probably happens all the time, I wasn't that kind of kid.
"Some how I think your actually right..-"
"Some how?? Actually?? You think?? I always have good ideas!"
"Yeah yeah of course you do." I rolled my eyes and smirked at him.
"Oh so you really want it, Lachance..?" He started leaning up a little more slowly.
"Give me all you got, Chambers."
