This world welcomed another baby,

She came giggling,

Into this unfair world,

Surrounded by a moment of happiness,

She didn't know there was a lifetime of pain.

She tried to leave, you know,

She tried so hard.

She ran into the arms of strangers,

Confided in persons she thought were friends.

She was done.

When crying became a norm,

Her tears had all run out,

No one seemed to listen,

But Oh, how she screamed,

Into her pillows at 2am,

She screamed with everything she had.

Except,

She woke up brand new,

Like everything she knew was different,

Almost like she'd been cocooned forever,

She had strength,

She saw purpose.

And for the first time in so long,

She felt.

Her slate was clean,

She was reborn,

Into this beautiful young lady,

A girl full of hope,

She could see her future,

And this time,

She's not afraid of it.

The girl,

I'm her.

And I hope someday I'll be able to share that strength.
