Making my way to Morgan's farmhouse, I brought with me a box filled to the brim with cookies I had baked myself that morning. I was convinced he would enjoy them just as much as I did making them. I'm not normally one to bake, but imagining the smile it would put on his sweet face, I couldn't help myself.
"Good morning, Morgy! Hello, Paru!" They waved at me from through the window and unlocked the door. "I made you some treats."
"Ooh! Cookies! WALNUT cookies! Thank you SO much!"
"Perhaps... You might like me to... Maybe... Feed you one?"
"Aha. So you DID like that last time. All right, then." He opened his mouth wide, and I placed the cookie into his mouth. "Your turn." Between us, we had finished the entire box but one, which was Paru's.
"Ford, your baking is super good! These cookies are great!"
"Why, thank you. I do my best." I bashfully turned to look at the floor. "Morgy, when you have a break from your work, would you mind coming with me to the mountain?"
"Hmm, I've no clue why, but sure!" I had overstayed my welcome and left at once. I would see Morgy again at around noon, anyway. I could spend a few hours without him.
"So, what do you think he wants me for?"
"Hmm... Maybe he wants to use you in your experiments..."
"I don't want to be turned into a toad!"
"Then you should watch where you tread. Ford could be anywhere with his syringe, ready to transform your DNA!" Morgan and Paru doubled over in laughter.
When my clock struck midday, I headed up to the mountain. It wouldn't be long until the moment I had awaited most would come.
"So, what did you want me for, Fordy?" He approached me with a grin.
"You have given me such a vast amount of love, and I do not believe I would accept it from any other. You have changed me, and taught me to accept different emotions. I do not disregard my feelings any longer. And I also do not believe that anybody else could engender such thoughts into me. And I believe that you and I... Are destined to marry. I need you to be a part of my life, as long as we both shall live. Will you marry me, Morgan?" His eyes were wide, and he was twiddling his thumbs in uncertainty.
"Well, I'll have to think about it, and... YES! YES, OF COURSE!" He launched himself at me and gave me an almost suffocating hug. "You got there before me. I was going to propose tomorrow!"
"So your answer truly is 'yes'. My heart is now a balloon, overfilled and ready to pop at any moment. You have completed me, Morgy. I am so proud to call you my fiancé."
"So, what did he want, Morgan?" Paru asked him upon our return.
"Well. Three words. I'm. Getting. MARRIED!" Paru was close to fainting, I was still flustered from Morgan's sudden response, and my fiancé was almost in tears. Happy tears, I hoped. "We should definitely tell Megan. She organises the weddings 'round here, right?"
"Yes. I remember attending Brad and Carrie's wedding. They were engaged for around two years, as they didn't have much time to complete the ceremony due to the restaurant's sudden decrease in customers. He was simply begging on his knees for me to visit when I first moved here. He would leave meals on my table until I eventually caved in and became a regular customer."
"He did that to me, too. I guess all the newbies have to be his customers. I don't blame him though. They're going through a rough phase these days." We nodded in agreement.
"Anyway, enough about Brad. We should get going."
"Ah, you didn't tell me you were together! I don't hear much from the others. So, you are gonna tie the knot? You sure?"
