Chapter Twenty-Seven

[WARNING]

[Flashback]

"What are you saying, Jay?! There is no possible way he knows! Didn't the other team members defend me?"

"That man told your team to move stations so that his own team can take over completely. Of course they couldn't defend you," Jay explains silently as he looks around the parking lot.

"Then how the fuck did you know about this?!" Jih hissed angrily.

"I-I asked him. I went to offer help and he said he didn't need any. An--"

"Oh my god!! Who even appointed you as a police officer?! The man probably never had any proof that it was me but now that you talked to him, he knows it was me!" Jih groans in annoyance.

"I-I--"

"Shut up! I am sure he doesn't have any proof but knows it is me...He won't actually try to arrest me because there is no solid proof. I have to be careful during the interrogation."

"Y-yes. I am sorry, man," Jay apologized.

"Whatever. Never do anything like this again without telling me. I already have something planned for today."

"Tell us what happened in detail, Madam," Yoon-woo said as he sat in front of Lucy who nods.

"Brother (she is referring to Jungkook's father) came home and went upstairs to talk to Jih. But Jih didn't see him. Jih came downstairs sad and I told him his brother went upstairs to see him. At that time Jungkook came downstairs and asked if Jih can take him outside. Jih agreed before leaving upstairs to get ready. When he was getting ready, I went upstairs and saw kerosene spilled around. And brother d-dead with a g-gun wound," Lucy finished explaining, waiting for the officer to say something.

"Why do you think there was kerosene and a match box but he still shot himself?" Yoon-woo questioned.

"I-I don't know."

"Okay. Do you know about this file?" Yoon-woo opens the property file and shows it to Lucy who frowns in confusion.

"I think sister (jungkook's mother) has talked about this before. I heard her talk about this to brother once," She answered, staring intensely at the file.

"Right. Well, after living with your husband's family for so long, do you think your brother could've killed himself despite being aware of his son's existence?"

"Yes." The answer caught Yoon-woo off guard.

"Why?"

"Brother is suicidal. He can't take in too much sadness and sister was always there for him at times like that. And now that she isn't here with him, he would've done that," Lucy explained further. "He does care for his son but his love for his wife is more bigger than that."

Yoon-woo hummed in response. "You can go now."

"Brother killed himself. And that's all it is. Why are you investi--"

"Thank you, madam Lucy. Let Jeon Jungkook inside," Yoon-woo says, not letting Lucy continue.

Lucy sighs before walking out and leading Jungkook inside. The boy had agreed to help with the investigation.

"I am sorry for your loss, Jungkook," Yoon-woo said as Jungkook sits on the chair. "Do you think your fath--"

"M-my father did," Jungkook said before Yoon-woo could even phrase the question. "H-he loves mom too much so he left me," He said, tears running down his cheeks.
