Hopper awoke in the middle of the night to Joyce shaking his arm. "Jim, wake up." He heard her whisper. He sat up and looked around the room. "Whats wrong?" He asked confused. "I got up to get water and when I was in the kitchen I saw somebody run past the window. But when I went back to bed I heard a knock on the living room window echo down the hallway." She answered frantically.

"Are you sure it wasn't just a dream?" He got out of bed and walked over to the door. "I'll go check the windows." He sighed and walked down the stairs. He doesn't believe me She thought. He thinks I'm hallucinating. Hopper walked back up to their bedroom. Joyce sat on the bed looking up at him with wide eyes. "There's nothing out there, babe." He told her. "Let's try and get some sleep." He scooped her into his arms. She rested her head on his chest, listing to his breathing.

Hopper couldn't sleep. He kept thinking about Joyce had said. What if there really is someone outside? Or something... He couldn't tell if she was asleep or not but he would lay there with his eyes closed until he drifted off. But he didn't. It took him laying there for an hour before he knew he wouldn't be sleeping that night.

Joyce lay awake, cuddled against hoppers side. She couldn't tell if he was asleep or not. She was too scared to sleep. Something was outside. She knew it. She felt like she was being watched. The sound of banging against the side of the house brought her out of her thoughts. She was certain that it was real now. This time hopper heard it too.

"Did you hear that?" He questioned. She nodded, following him as he got up for the second time that night. He picked up his flashlight that was on his dresser and walked downstairs. He walked towards the front door, unlocking it and stepping outside. He shined the flashlight in every direction before walking towards the side of the house. Joyce followed him but he put a hand on her shoulder to stop her. "Stay inside. Keep the door closed. If I'm not back in 3 minutes then you can come out." He instructed cautiously. "But, hop.." she started. "I need you safe, Joyce. Please." He continued walking to the side of the house. She was a little pissed but understood. "Be careful please!" Joyce yelled in a whisper. He turned around to give her a thumbs up.

Joyce watched the clock like a hawk. It had only been 50 seconds, but still. Meanwhile, hopper shined the flashlight to every tree, every bush, every square foot but couldn't find anything. The thoughts that it was probably an animal or critter of some sort started to wash over his mind again. That was until footsteps could be heard in the leaves not far away from him at all. He of course shined the flashlight the direction and as soon as he did they started running. He followed them but they ran off into the woods and there was no way in hell he would follow, especially without a weapon.

When joyce checked the clock again it showed he had been out there for 3 minutes and 4 seconds. She nervously went over to open the door to peer outside. She walked out into the yard, walking around the opposite side of the house Jim had minutes prior. She started getting a gut feeling that got stronger the closer she got closer to the back telling her to go back inside. But she didn't listen to it. She let out a breath of relief when she heard hoppers footsteps in the distance walking over to her. "Thank god, I thought something happened to you." She said as he got approached her.

But instead of taking her hand to walk inside, they put a chloroform cloth over her mouth, and the last thing she felt before passing out was the torturous pain of a knife stab into the left side of her stomach. She fell to the ground. Bleeding out onto the grass. Hopper ran inside to tell her not to worry but couldn't find her. He ran back outside and yelled for her. "Joyce I'm okay we can go back inside!" He yelled for her. But started to get concerned when there was no response. He walked around the yard looking for her. They hadn't cross paths when they were both out there or else he would've found her.

He rounded the corner and when he realized he saw her on the ground he panicked and ran over to her. He got down on his knees and only then did he notice she had been stabbed and was bleeding out quickly. He didn't know what to do. He couldn't leave her to go call 911. But also had no other way of getting an ambulance there. He decided on the only right option. He picked her up and carried her over to his car, running inside to get the keys and hopping in the driver seat.

He placed one of his jackets over her, using one hand to apply pressure and the other to drive. The hospital wasn't far so of he sped fast enough they could get there in no time. He ran every stop sign and stop light. He was approaching a crosswalk when a guy walked in front of his car. He slammed on the break. "SON OF BITCH!" He yelled loud enough for the guy to her him. He continued racing to the hospital. He glanced over at Joyce who was still unconscious.

They approached the hospital and he practically teleported out of the vehicle and over to the other door. He carried her inside. "HELP! SHES BEEN STABBED!" He yelled. He could see doctors and nurses running towards him. "You're gonna make it." He whispered under his breath. "This won't be the last time I talk to you."
