LUZ ALCALA!
Chapter twenty one

 ˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚*·̩̩̥͙

Soon after lunch we headed out to Battery Jasper in the twinkie. The drive itself wasn't too long, but the tension in the air made it feel as if we were stuck in there for decades.

There was a slight breeze in the air. From up here, you could see parts of the town from below.

"We're in Battery, right here." Pope pointed to a spot on the map. "So if this is parcel nine, then it's somewhere northeast of here."

"Somewhere over there." Ki pointed off somewhere within the trees.

         "Right."

"Over there? Guys, that's not Tannyhill, that's a subdivision." JJ squinted his eyes before looking back at us.

"Tannyhill plantation was the entire island. It got sold into smaller pieces over time." John B said.

I shuffled over to peer from the ledge, turning back at the group. "I mean, it shouldn't be too hard to find it. Right?"

Pope shrugged, eyes stuck on the map. "So we're just looking for an old stone wall."

"Perfect, let's move." JJ jumped down from the rock he was standing on, Pope gathering his things before we all headed back into the van.

We didn't say anything during the drive, more focused on what the map had to say since the landmarks were all screwed up from how long it'd been. (write more?)

"Okay, so the road should split up here." Pope had one hand holding the map and the other pointed at the direction.

         "Okay."

"All right. You're gonna take a left."

The van sharply turned as I gripped onto one of the handles to the interior. JJ snickered at me before I rolled my eyes at him.

"That looks like a stone wall to me."

"This is it." Pope let out a shallow breath, one that he'd been holding in for some time.

"Not the Crain house." John B lightly sighed, popping open the drivers door.

JJ slid open the van door, the three of us stepping out as I closed it behind me, Ki already stepping over to stop in front of the threshold to the residency.

         "Are you kidding me?"

"Worst case scenario." JJ huffed, hands tucked into the pockets of his shorts.

"I don't know, it looks exciting to me." I deadpanned, JJ snorting at my comment.

         "Of course you think that."

"Why'd it have to be here." Pope huffed. "Of all places."

"I heard that Mrs. Crain buried her husband's head on the property." JJ turned his head over to Pope, a dissatisfied look sat on his face.

"Yeah, bullshit." I shook my head before raking my fingers through my hair. "Urban legend."

"I don't know, Luz. The old lady doesn't like to leave the property." JJ replied.
