LUZ ALCALA!
Chapter eighteen

 ˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚*·̩̩̥͙

Midsummers, my first and last Midsummers. Never had I been to such a 'prestigious' party that involved the selfish and wealthy. But for one night I can dance around and act like just another other snobby teen.

The drive wasn't too long, a short one with the mix of my reckless driving and the lack of people on the road. My Jeep quickly became a race car.

Parties. What's not to like? A night worth of surprises and fun, stumbling from all the alcohol and the fuzzy music fading into one another. Dancing without a care in the world because everyone is so self absorbed with themselves.

I had to park the car a little down the street from the event, briskly walking towards the front doors.

The security guard held out an arm, stopping me as I suppressed a groan before throwing on a smile. "Luz Alcala, guest to the Carrera family."

He read through his clip board for a minute, nodding his head as I passed through him and inside the building.

Everything up to the door knobs were polished clean, a few people mingled down the corridor. Against all the people, I stuck out like a sore thumb. Maybe I looked the part, but I didn't act like it. I was never taught to be proper.

Everyone else was in the spacious backyard, herds of groups covered the grass where the green could barely be seen. Flashes of delighted and carefree faces morphed with one another through the crowd. All I wanted to do was look for someone familiar.

Throughout the sea of people I could see Ki in her lilac dress, the two of us matching in silk. Our eyes quickly connected with one another before we rushed over to one another, my legs speeding up.

"Oh my god! Bitch you look good." I lightly nodded my head in approval, Ki lightly chuckling at my response.

"Okay, but you look so good."

I playfully shrugged, pushing back my hair. "It was a moral obligation."

"Yeah, but you look super good."

"Thanks." We both smiled at one another as I scanned the crowd, brows furrowed. "So, is it just us?"

"Pope's working with his dad, but yeah basically. I haven't heard from John B or JJ."

         "We should ditch early."

Ki shook her head, the two of us moving over to grab some drinks from a waiter. "My parents would murder me if I left early."

"Alright, what about ten minutes before the party ends?"

She took a few moments to think about is, her eyes stuck to the sky in thought. "Maybe."

I nodded my head, taking in my surroundings. Considering this party was for older people, there were still many teens. From everyone, I could easily spot Topper standing at the balcony with a drink in his hand, but Sarah was nowhere to be found.
