Vaeri walked through the forest with no worries. She had been through these woods thousands of times, so she knew how to maneuver. As she continued her way through, stopping momentarily to gather berries from nearby bushes, and drink water, she ran through with incredible speed and endurance. She was spotted by some wolves and boars, but one arrow and they weren't a problem. As she got further through the forest, she noticed something weird with her surroundings. The trees looked thicker as if they were grown specifically to obstruct vision. From a Bush came a noise unlike anything Vaeri had ever heard. She quickly rolled into a bush and notched an arrow, hoping the beast didn't see her. Out came two creatures. One seemed to be puzzled, as if he had seen something. The other was sure he didn't. The first one seemed smaller, skinnier, and less dressed. It had a strange walk, yet looked surprisingly balanced. The second one was taller, buffer, and more dressed. It walked normally, but was less balanced. It almost fell as it swung its giant stick around. Vaeri knew what they were, her village librarians had books on them. They were Goblins. Weirdly enough, there were only two. "Usually they travel in packs. Where are the others? Could the man in the iron mask have killed them?" Vaeri thought. She shook her head and focused on trying to get away. She put her arrow back into her quiver, and looked around. 'If I leap onto that branch, I could try to get away by jumping, but I would fall if I took the wrong step.' She continued to look around, but failed to find a way. She didn't think of any other choice, so she notched an arrow, exhaled, and fired. The short one howled in pain as the arrow protruded from his rear right kidney. It collapsed, still whimpering from pain. The big one looked around, trying to find where it came from, but failed to see Vaeri, so he tended to his partner. Vaeri notched another arrow, and aimed a little higher. She fired, and caught the big one in his lung. Collapsing, both goblins now thought dead, Vaeri stood up, and ran. She kept going until she saw a light. "Finally!" She said as she continued sprinting. As the light filled her eyes, she looked around. "Wow." She said and she looked at the fields of grass around her. Seeing as this is her first time out of her forest, she was ecstatic. She started to run to it, when she saw an arrow fly by her head. She notched an arrow and looked around, carefully observing her surroundings like a hawk. She focused and saw the grass moving. She followed it with her eyes and waited for it to stop moving. Once it stopped, she took the shot. A blood curdling shriek echoed from the creature, as it stood and caught the arrow to the neck. She went to the beast, and looked at the arrows it was firing. "These are dull. No wonder the arrow didn't stick to the ground." She picked up the bow. While examining it, she noticed that it was practically snapping in half. "Well the books did say goblins were dim, but I would have thought they would be a little smarter. If this is all I have to deal with." She looked up at the sky. "Then my revenge will be easy!"
