Vaeri sprinted through town. Ignoring all the noises and smells around her. Most smelled nice, like flowers and the fruit stands, but others were horrendous at best. Racing past all indistinct conversation, she headed back to Eudora's house. 'I've got to get out of here. If my power causes such destruction, then I need to practice it somewhere else.' she thought as she raced through town. After a few minutes, she reached the house. "Oh! Hello Vaeri. How was the bookstore?" Eudora asked, sitting in the dining room. Vaeri turned to her and sighed. "It was good. I got a book." Vaeri said, deflated. "That's good. Is something wrong dear? You seem to be out of breath." Eudora asked. Vaeri saw how concerned she was. A glimpse of her mother replaced her for a split second. "Yes. I'm leaving this village today. I don't want to cause harm to anyone." Vaeri said, tears streaming down her eyes. Eudora opened her arms and let Vaeri fall into them. "You have never hurt anyone here. Not anyone who didn't deserve it anyway. If you wish to leave, I will not stop you, but at least let me help you." Eudora said holding Vaeri tighter. "Thank you Ms. Dethynna. That would be very much appreciated." Vaeri said, sobbing a little bit more. As they packed up, Vaeri told Eudora about Vanessa and how her magic reacted to the thought of the Man. "I see. That is troubling. I'm sorry I'm sure once you get used to your magic a bit more, you can control it better." Eudora said, comfortingly. Once finished, Vaeri gave Eudora another hug. "Thank you, dear. Hey, if you want, you can go down to the blacksmith at the end of the market and buy some more arrows. I noticed you were running a bit low." Eudora said, holding Vaeri like she was her child. "Thank you for everything again, Ms. Dethynna." Vaeri said, crying. "Of course my child. Anytime you wish to come back, you're always welcome here." Eudora said. "Thank you." That was all Vaeri managed to say. As she trudged off to the blacksmith, she calmed herself. Letting the sound of indistinct chatter from nearby stands fill her ears. "Hey there. You looking for a new blade?" The blacksmith asked. Vaeri looked up at him. "No, but I would like some arrows if you have any." Vaeri said. The blacksmith looked back through all of his barrels and chests of things he had. The smell of ash and hot metal filled the air. "Sorry, little one. Fresh out. Someone came by just a little bit ago and bought 'em all. If you leave now, they might be at the edge of town yet." The blacksmith said. "I see. Thank you for your time." Vaeri said as she walked out. As she continued her walk, she thought she heard a familiar voice. "Hey! Over here!" Kiera yelled. She had arrows leaking from her hands and all over the ground. 'You've got to be kidding me.' Vaeri said. "Come on! If we leave now, we can camp in the forest by nightfall!" Kiera said as she gathered all the arrows she dropped. "You-You're going with me?" Vaeri asked as she took the arrows and gently equipped them into her quiver. "Yeah! Why not?" Kiera asked. "Well firstly, you belong in this village, secondly, your face gets all red every time I get anywhere near you, and thirdly your magic can heal, not hurt." Vaeri said. Kiera covered her face. "My f-face isn't red! It just looks that way because of the sun! Plus, I already asked my mother if I can go with you and she said yes." Kiera said, her face still buried in her hands. "Very well." Vaeri said, sighing. As they walked into the forest, they turned around one more time. 'I promise that I will return here with her.' Vaeri thought. "You'd better catch up slowpoke!" Kiera yelled as she raced down into the forest. "Wait! Don't run off! You'll get yourself killed!" Vaeri yelled, chasing after her.
