"But the Enemy planes hadn't finished. They were circling because they hadn't finished the job.
They were planning to bomb again -
And that's exactly what they did.
Right then. Right there.
With Jake inside the house.
Anyway... That's all in the past. Now, I'm on my own. And I suppose I should leave, now, before the patrols arrive. My few belongings have been piled inside the old leather sack that I use as a mattress, shoved inside so that they all just about fit:
2 knitted blankets
Ink pen and pot
A few clothes
3 Proud War posters
Food supply and water bottle
Bird Book
And, of course, this diary, which I'm about to put in. Most people have left now, and once I've packed up the tiny tent that I call home, I'll do the same.
I've no idea where I'll go, how I'll make it, but I'll just have to do my best. I'll... I'll just have to do what I've taught myself to do since I was tiny.
I'll just have to survive."
