"Look Callie." Joseph gives me a serious look. "I'm telling you this because the governments have done their people wrong, ever since 1780. In more general ways like I have told you today, and in more personal ways, like what Jayden Darcy has told you.

Can you remember the last thing she said?"

"What," I whisper

"She said that unlike a lot of things in the Proud War, many people - like her beloved brother Jake - have given their lives for good. And then she said - and I quote - 'that, I believe, should never be forgotten'."

I look at him.

"There were millions of Jayden Darcys at the end of the war. It was fate that made me discover those files on your father's desk, and I always thought my fate was to give those people justice. Now I've discovered my time has run out. The authorities will find me soon.
