As those words left her mouth I felt a shiver run down my spine. My whole body was telling me to decline.

"Ah thank you, but I'm alright for now. I'll let you know in the future alright?"

Swindler only laughed before standing up.

"Come on don't be so modest. How about I introduce you to the boss! That might change your mind." She said sending a wink.

My heart began pounding and I profusely shook my head.

"Really it's fine. Today was supposed to be our time, not other people."

"Y/N it will literally take 5 seconds plus you'll have a better chance of being hired if I introduce you."

Swindler grabbed onto my wrist and yanked me up off the couch. I let out a small yelp before stumbling behind her.

"Swindler stop! This isn't a good idea! I'm wearing red if this is an unspoken rule I'm sure they know about it so can't we do this another day." I said trying to plead with her.

"Nope and don't worry he'll understand."

She pulled me towards the door and I began to panic even more. It wasn't that she was physically stronger than me rather I didn't want to hurt her.

She slammed the door wide open and stopped. There was someone walking by the door. They also stopped to look our way. Taking that moment of hesitation I felt her grasp on my hand falter. I quickly removed my wrist from her grip and my eyes met with the other person.

His eyes shun at the sight before him but it didn't last long. With an emotionless face, I pushed Swindler out the door before slamming it shut and locking it.

The knob jiggled a few times before I heard Swindler let out a sigh.

"Sorry Boss she's shy."

My heartbeat increased once again. I moved to the couch trying to keep as much distance between me and the door as possible.

I couldn't hear anything anymore but that didn't matter. I had made an awful impression so hopefully, he would convince Swindler otherwise.

Either way, I absolutely was not interested in working here. Even if I was struggling with the money I'd get a normal job, not at a bar or club.

Another shiver ran down my spine.

The boss was intimidating. He seemed cold and his eyes shun a light purple-ish pink. For a second I swore I could've seen a flash of red.

There was a knock on the door causing my whole body to go stiff.

"He's gone now so would you let me back in?"

I got up off the couch and quietly approached the door. Putting my ear up against it I tried to listen for anyone else asides from her.

"Y/N come on I'm sorry he's gone really so open the doorr!" She said knocking once again.

I couldn't hear anyone else out there.

Unlocking the door I cautiously opened it.

My heart calmed down at the sight of just her.

I opened the door the rest of the way and she walked back over to the couch letting out an annoyed groan.

"Ahh, you made an awful impression you know that?? How could you just slam the door in your boss's face!"

I only rolled my eyes before closing the door.

"He's not my boss. Nor am I interested in working here."

"But hey there is one good thing!"

I glanced over at her and she smiled.

"Ahem, he said, 'Tell her she looks stunning in red'."

My heart skipped a beat.

Now that I had not expected.

"Oh."

"See he likes you! So don't be scared and just apply." She said giggling.

"Swindler... why is it people don't wear red?"

Her giggling quieted down and her smile disappeared.

She shrugged her shoulders.

"Honestly I'm not sure. The rule was already here before I first started working. I never really questioned it I just figured the boss hated red, but I guess that wouldn't make much sense..."

I nodded my head.

"Then how did you find out about it?"

She tensed up and gave a shaky smile.

"Isn't it obvious?

I wore red."

I hummed in response as she continued on.

"Jeez, it was a total mess. All my co-workers were freaking out and one of the ones I'm closer with literally dragged me into the bathroom threw another dress at me and left."

"And you never bothered to ask why?"

"Nope." She said popping the 'p'.

I internally facepalmed myself. If one thing hadn't changed about Swindler it was being dense with a lack of common sense.

There was a good chance they wouldn't have told her either. Which meant the only person who might be honest was,

The boss.
