The Nanny

Chapter 12

Veronica says being annoyed, kind of.

S: What do you mean? It's Jughead's birthday. How can I miss it?

Veronica and Archie looks at her not being happy to have her here. Clearly, I seemed like they don't like her. Betty still didn't get any sense of this scene. She was still in shock but her face didn't let it show it. In the meantime, FP and the twins also comes to them. Then suddenly, Sophia looks at her Betty and asks,

S: And who is this?

A: She is the kids' nanny.

S: Oh. Well, I'm Sophia Miller. I'm... Jughead? Why don't you tell her who I am?

Jughead keep looking down, not making any eye contact with Betty. Betty looks at him when Jughead finally says.

J: Betty... she's my girlfriend.

S: Ah, don't be so silly. I'm his fiancé.

That's when Betty's heart stops. She was about to cry but she holds her tears, not letting any of them out. Veronica and Archie could see the pain in her face. The twins roll their eyes at Sophia who was being too close and clingy with Jughead. FP tries to handle the situation so he says,

FP: Well, let's cut the cake, shall we?

Marcus: Yes, please.

The twins drag Jughead to where the cake was and everyone started gathering up. When the cake was getting cut, everyone starts cheering and clapping. Betty holds a fake smile on her face and claps lightly. The party goes on. The couples where slow dancing, Archie and Veronica, Sophia and Jughead and some of their other guests. Betty was standing in a corner with a glass of drink in her hand when suddenly someone comes up to her.

R: Remember me?

B: Robin. Hi.

Betty says and smiles.

R: I'm glad you remembered me.

B: Of course I would.

R: Well, why are in a corner, If one might ask?

B: I don't have any partner as you can see.

R: In that case, shall we?

Robin takes his hand out to her and Betty accepts it to be polite.

B: Sure, why not?

They join the dance floor and Jughead looks at them, insecurely. Robin and Betty starts slow dancing.

B: Umm... can I ask you something?

R: Sure.

B: Who is this Sophia Miller? I mean, she's Jughead girlfriend but...

R: I get it. Well, she's a businesswoman. And her company is kind of a friend of Jones Fabrics. And as you know I guess, she's Jughead's fiancé. No one knows why did he do that. And please don't tell anyone but she's a real bitch. Veronica, Archie, Mr. Jones, the twins and me, we cannot tolerate her at all. She's so annoying. None of us like her.

B: To be honest, me too.

R: See? Told you.

Betty chuckles and they continue their dance. In the meantime, Jughead watches them, jealously. He's not paying attention to his dance with Sophia. He knows that what he did was wrong but the situations are complicated. After the dance, Betty goes to get a drink where she meets Sophia. Betty already hates Sophia.

S: Oh, hey Betty.

B: Hey, Sophia.

She fakes a smile at her.
