I focused back on the road but I couldn't keep Lacey off my mind. She just looks so different. In all honesty her and casey didn't even look that similar.

Casey wore makeup, straightened her hair, and colored her eyebrows. Lacey had no makeup on. Her hair got lighter as it went down. It looked sun bleached. Because lacey was more natural than casey, she looked younger.

Lacey was tanner too. Judging by her sun bleached hair and her tan skin I'm guessing she spent a lot of time outside. She had light freckles on the top of her nose close to her eyes and her eyes were just so blue. What would lacey of looked like if she hadn't been in that orphanage.

"How? How did you get in that orphanage?" I ask. Lacey thinks for a second and bites her lip before speaking. "I was at grandma and Grandpaws house alone. They were going somewhere, I don't remember where. But I got a call saying they died in a car crash. And when the police tried to contact Mum- I mean Alissa and Mark, and they said they couldn't get in contact with them. They said they left messages but no one answered and no one was home when the went to the house. And you guys never bothered to come get me I guess."

"Lacey it wasn't like that. Mum told us you had died with them." I say taken back by what she said.

"I'm sorry." Casey says.

Lacey opens her mouth to say something but then closes it and nods.
