The start of my journey

Wow my first ever F1 race, how did I get here. It felt like yesterday when I was a young kid doing karting at my local karting club. The atmosphere at Australia was incredible. I was so happy to be here with mason by my side supporting me through my first race.

"Eva, your going to smash it...mark my words,"mason said as he pulled me into a hug. I just looked into his eyes and smiled. I checked the time. "Right, we have to get you ready in the pits, we have 15 minutes to get ready," mason nodded, you could tell he was so nerves for my first race... to be honest I was nervous myself but I tried to hide it.

All the cars are ready on the track waiting for the lights to go out. Luckily I had a good qualifying yesterday so I started 10th place, that was very good for a Williams car baring in mind my teammate is starting  17th.
The lights were starting to go out, thoughts were racing through my head, nerves nearly took the better of me but I remembered what mase told me.

"And it's lights out and away we go!"said the commentators. "What a start from Furber, the rookie driver has made 4 places already and we haven't even got to the first corner yet!"
As I turned into the first corner there was a huge collision involving Verstappen, Hamilton and Vettel.
I was so lucky not getting into the crash myself.
"Yes Eva! We are 3rd already! Keep this up and we might get a podium." Shouted my engineer into my radio, I generally thought my eardrums were going to explode but I don't blame them. This was a first in a while for Williams to get into the podium positions so quickly. I couldn't mess this up, I had to do it for myself, my team, for mason. I sped up and I was about 0.432 seconds  behind Leclerc (he is my good friend)I didn't want to crash into him by mistake! So I took the easy route of going round the outside of him.

"Oh and look at this Leclerc just got overtaken by the Williams driver, this is a great first race for Eva and the team!" Shouted Crofty in the commentary box, he was really getting into the race. Now all I have to do is keep up with Bottas and overtake him like I just did, I said to myself.

In no time I easily passed the Mercedes driver and I won the Australian GP.
"WOOOAHHHHHH LETS GO TEAM, COULDN'T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU LOT" I shouted in the radio, I was so happy and in the background I head mason screaming with joy, he was so happy for me.
I got out the car and celebrated with Charles, then went over to the team, I took my helmet off and downed a bottle of water. All of a sudden I felt someone's hands rap around my waist.
"I'm so proud of you" whispered mason into my ear, I loved it when he did this, it made me feel safe and loved. I turned around and kissed him like never before... I didn't care about the media or the cameras ,i was just so happy that I won my first race. I was on the podium, I couldn't stop smiling...I was living my best life
