(^^A picrew I made of Luz hehe)

Mom was already asleep, so it was easy to slip past her closed door and into my room. I softly shut the wood behind me and leaned the palisman against my dresser, eyeing the solidified reptile attached to it. Hopefully I could get answers from it, or find someone in the Boiling Isles that knows.
The Boiling Isles. The name felt strange to me, like a long lost memory that showed up out of nowhere. It didn't even feel like a real place anymore. Would I even be welcomed back? Will the key even work? There were so many things running around my head, it was hard to keep my attention on and worry over a single one. With my luck I would wake up soon and this would all have been a dream, and I would go back to my sad, uneventful, and very normal human life.
Too bad my life was far from normal.
I patted my cheeks and shook my head, needing to focus on right now. Not knowing how long I was going to be gone, it seemed logical to just bring whatever I need straight away. Looking around my room I tried to find something to put my things in, pausing when I saw my school bag laying on the floor where I dropped it earlier.
I picked it up by the strap and dumped all the contents out on my bed, most of it being notebooks and loose papers. The bat I set in there slipped out of the bag, rolling towards the side. Before it could hit the ground and ruin my escape plans, I swiftly caught it in my hands, blowing out a breath of relief and thanking my quick reflex skills.
It was someone's old and used baseball bat, the red peeling off in some places and some white tape or something wrapped around the handle. Curling my fingers around the handle, my breath came out in a shudder as I remembered exactly how it got in my possession.
Thankfully Quinton didn't pursue my house after not finding me anywhere on campus. Who knows what he would have done if he caught me before I could get away. I had thought going down to the police station and showing them the fresh bruises on my wrist and side, but decided to just let karma come and kick him in the ass one day. I didn't have time to deal with it right now anyways.
I tossed the bat onto the bed before grabbing the hem of my shirt and lifting it up so to examine how bad the damage was from my slide. A large bruise had already formed, shades of black and purple mixing with a slight tinge of yellow around the edges. Not pretty. I curled my lip back before dropping the shirt back down and started grabbing necessities and throwing them in the bag. Basic bathroom supplies, some clothes, whatever I could think of in that moment.
Turning towards my dresser I began shuffling through the drawers, pushing aside old notebooks and clothes, clicking my tongue in annoyance. "Jeez, when was the last time I cleaned this? So much random shit." Who even uses a dresser for anything but clothes? While swiping my hand along the sides to see if I missed anything, my fingers brushed some kind of bottle. I furrow my brows and pull it out, pausing as I realize what I held in my hand.
An old pill bottle, still filled to the top with the circular prescribed drugs I was forced to get a few months ago.
I didn't like taking them. Whenever I did, it was like my skin became hypersensitive and a veil would hang over my eyes. They were meant to help my newly developed anxiety, but instead they only made it worse. The bottle hit the bottom of the drawer as it fell from my fingers, and I make a face it before moving my eyes to the other side of the small compartment. Reaching my hand in I scooped up the rolled medication I'd much rather use instead, carefully putting them in a rolled up shirt so they wouldn't break and setting it inside my bag.
I placed my hands on my hips, nodding my head at my work. Just one more thing I need to grab, since it was kind of important and I needed it to access the demon realm.
