"DCS, I know you're in there!" Someone pounded on the door. I had spilt the water I was drinking all over my shirt when JJ jumped in on the window scaring John B, and myself.

"Gotcha slick. You should've seen your faces." He laughed through the window.

"I'm just saying, like don't understand why you don't at least try with Kiara, she clearly likes you. She's like 'oh John B'. She's sketching about you diving and then she kissed you bro!" JJ nagged at John B from the passenger seat of the Twinkie.

"She kissed me on the cheek. It's not like we were making out or something." John B argued.

"Low hanging fruit bro. Don't pretend you don't notice I see it in your eyes you're like 'I kinda like that' and start blushing and shit."

"I blush?" He asked.

"Yeah"

"Yeah you definitely do." I agreed.

JJ reached up for the compass but John B lunged at him trying to snatch it away. "Hey I was just looking at it.. I gotta admit. Your fathers compass in Scooter's boat. That's freaky."

"Yeah that's why we're going to talk to Mrs. Lana, figure this whole thing out."  John B said.

"I am telling you this is not a good idea. Her husband dies and we just show up to her house with a random compass- like she's probably grieving still. But only some of us can see that." I eyed John B

"Yeah, I'm  sure she'd just love to talk to us- it's not like her husband just drowned or anything." JJ agreed playing with the chain of the compass. We pulled up to Lana's house and got out of the van.

"You know what this house looks like?" John B asked

"Whoever lives here smokes too much weed." JJ said.

As we approached the house we heard loud thuds coming from inside. "Maybe we should come back- it's a little too soon-" JJ said sounding worried.

"Shut up. Shut up, JJ." John B shushed.

"Maybe we should just-" I started but was cut off by the sound of someone screaming and crying.

"Come on. Come on." John B whispered and lead to to the side of the house, where we heard more crying and sounded like someone was being hit.

"Still think we should stay?" JJ asked.

We heard more stuff breaking from inside and paint started falling off the walls of the house. "Is that paint?" I asked.

"Yes it's paint." John b snapped, everyone still remaining in whispers.

"Let's get outta here man." We heard the man from inside say.

"We should just go- he's got smuggler written all over him." JJ whispered as we walked further toward to front of the house.

We snapped back around the corner when two men left the house. "Dude those are the guys that shot at us." We backed up further behind the corner as they drove away in their boat.

"I'm literally- those guys shot me! What are they doing here?" I asked as we walked into the house.

"Mrs. Lana?" John B called.

We saw her sitting in her trashed bathroom floor crying. Sink halfway ripped off the wall and tub busted up.

"Are you okay? It's okay. It's okay." I assured.

"Dude she's tweaking." JJ grabbed John B's shoulder.

"Do you need a doctor? We should call the sheriffs department." John B suggested.

"No, no, no. No cops, please." She cried.

"Hm that's not good. Let's go."

"You shouldn't be here." She said through sobs.

"That's a enough for me." JJ tried to walk away but John B pulled him back.

"What do you know about these guys?" I asked.

"They we're looking for something."

"Does it have anything to do with this?" John B pulled the compass out of his pocket. "Do you know anything about this? This is my fathers and scooter had it. Why?"

"Scooter didn't have it okay? Don't tell anyone that you have that. They can't know that you have that. You gotta get outta here!" She cried.

"What do you know about the compass?" JJ pulled John B away.

"Go, go! Get out!" She yelled.

"Great way to traumatize someone right after their husband died." I sighed.

"And then we were right outside like this. And all we hear is just 'Bam! Bam! Bam!' knocking paint off the wall G. From the inside, and I'm just looking at them like- wait first off look at this shit." JJ shook his head causing paint to fly out.

"That's dandruff. It's disgusting." Kie said.

"Look at all that. It's paint. At that point I was just like- I'm waiting for death." He continued.

"Okay, okay. So you saw the guys that shot at us right?" Pope asked.

"Yea."

"Did you get a good description on what they look like?"

"Yeah anything anything is helpful."

"Anything we can bring to a police report maybe?"

"Burly." JJ said.

"Burly?" Pope questioned.

"Yea. You know like-"

"That's not very helpful." Kie sighed.

"Okay well, no, like the type of guy at my dads garage. You guys know he made cargo hides for drug smokers."

"Yes, we know."

Okay so I can tell you with full confidence these boys, these killers. They're square groupers." JJ said.

"Square groupers. Like- Narco square grouper. Like uh- Pablo Escobar square grouper?"

"Yea man."

"You guys, not everything is a kingpin movie." Kie said.

"Okay so what does a square grouper look like specifically if we're throwing it out there because apparently you don't know what to look for!"

"Dude! I wasn't taking little mental Polaroids the entire time man, I was under duress. Okay? But I can tell you- I can tell you by the way Mrs. Lana was screaming, that these guys, are serious, serious hombres man. It's a heavy vibe right now. I'm not liking this very much."

"Okay why would they want the compass?" I asked.

"That things a piece of shit you couldn't pawn it off for five bucks if you wanted to." Pope said. "No offense guys. I know its like in your family."

"The office." John B said.

"What?"

"My dad's office."
