Have y'all suffered enough yet?
Nah!
Catra had gone months without seeing her love. It was breaking her. And right now, he felt so sick that she didn't want to move.
"Catra, it's okay to take a break. You need rest. You haven't slept in days." Bow advice with Glimmer nodding in agreement. Catra shook her head as she weakly stood up to get cleaned up and dressed.
"Catra. You're going to get worse."
"I am the queen of Half Moon! I need to serve my people or else I will never be able to make them proud." Catra mumbled. She was totally spiraling. Which she was aware of. Not only had she been more tired then she had ever been, but she was so depressed and lonely it was crazy.
How could missing someone change her so drastically.
Catra sat in her bathtub, holding herself since no else bothered to. Adora was apparently having the time of her life. Shadow Weaver thinks Adora is over her.
Did I forget to mention she's still learning magic with Shadow Weaver?
Yeah.
Magic class with Shadow Weaver was brutal. Shadow Weaver was mean sometimes, other times she was kind. Catra, being the impressionable teen she was, always chased that validation. She'd be giving 150% and get less than 10 in return, but it didn't matter.
As long as someone liked her.
Shadow Weaver was manipulative. She'd make small comments about Catra. Sometimes including Adora.
"Adora wouldn't like the extra weight you're gaing."
"Adora is too good for you."
"Adora has left you. And she's never coming back for you. She doesn't care."
And after a while, Catra started to believe it.
In every letter, Adora would tell Catra about her amazing adventures. Slaying dragons, helping people, having fun, meeting new people.
What if Adora just up and decided to sleep with someone else? What if she meets someone and falls for them the way she did Catra?
The idea made Catra sick to her stomach.
Catra wanted to be mad at Adora. To cut her off. Especially if she wasn't coming back anytime soon. But she couldn't.
And Catra would be lying through her teeth if she said she didn't say she didn't sleep with Adora's cape draped over every night, keeping the scent and imagining Adora was there, holding her as she slept.
-
Catra grew more and more sick as time went by. She stumbled out of the throne room, dozing off as she did so. Eventually, Bow started to carry her, Glimmer trying to keep Catra awake.
"She's burning up!" Bow whisper yelled. Catra couldn't hear him. She was so out of it and all she could hear was the slight noises Bow and Glimmer's feet were making.
"We need to take her to a doctor, now!" Glimmer exclaimed as she heard Catra mumble complete gibberish. Bow nodded, hurrying to to castle infirmary.
-
After hours of waiting in the lobby, Catra's doctor came out with information. But before he could speak,
"Where in the first one's name is by sweet C'yra?!" They heard someone yell. The doctor looked to see Queen C'yra with a worried face. "What's going on?! I came as soon as I heard."
"Queen C'yra." The doctor greeted with a bow. "Your granddaughter is in a very weak state. She's barely staying awake and she is very confused. She smells different and she's signs of grieving."
"Greiving?" Bow questioned.
"It's when a Magicat has lost their mate. Usually, they died soon after. But this is a rare form." The doctor explained. Queen C'yra looked confused. "Mate? My Catra hasn't chosen a mate."
"Adora!" Bow and Glimmer realized in unison.
"Do you think they are mates?" The doctor asked urgently.
"No!" C'yra yelled.
"Yes! They have to be!"
"We can't take any chances. Get Adora here, now. I will explain once she's here." The doctor instructed as he walked away to check on another patient.
"I may be able to teleport to her quadrant. But I'm not sure if it'll be exact." Glimmer warned. Bow just shook his head. "Do it. Just.. be careful. She planted a small kiss on the boy's temple before teleporting away.
--
Adora jumped when she saw Glimmer teleport right in front of her. "Glimmer! I'm so happy to see you!"
"Adora.." Glimmer whispered, the blonde pulled back from a tight hug and looked Glimmer in her teary eyes. "Glimmer? What's wrong?"
"It's Catra.." Glimmer cried. "She's fallen ill. And it's bad."
